HEILUNG LIVE!!
The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Rd, Camden Town, Nw1 8eh, London [UK]
10/11/2019
After A Highly Successful First Ritual Last November At The Islington Assembly Halls Heilung Will Be Back In London This Coming November To Perform Again At The Larger Roundhouse Venue In Camden Town. What I Witnessed Last Year Was A Spine Shivery And Cathartic Experience That Took Me Out Of My Body And Transported Me Into Other Realms That Not Only Innervated My Spirit But Calmed My Mind. With The Recent Release Of The Album 'futha' I Have No Doubt That The Forthcoming Ritual In Camden Will Surpass The Last One And Leave An Even Deeper Impression On My Psyche. If You Have Not Seen Heilung Before Then I Reccomend You Do So, You Won't Regret It!

Heilung Is An Experimental Folk Band Of Members From Denmark, Norway, And Germany. They Do Music Based On Texts Of Original Artifacts From The Iron Age And The Viking Age. They Describe Their Music As 'amplified History From Early Medieval Northern Europe'. Heilung Means 'healing' In German.
Style
According To Kai Uwe Faust, The Name Of The Band 'heilung', Healing In German, Says Something About The Style Of The Band: 'the Listener Is Supposed To Be Left At Ease And In A Relaxed State After A Magical Musical Journey That Is At Times Turbulent'[9] The Recordings Of The Band Healing Are Not Limited To Music, But Also Contain Poems.
The Reference To The Early Ages Of Humanity Is Also Made By Using Texts From Historical Artefacts Or Historical Poems As Texts. The Languages Used Are Varied From German, English To Gothic, Latin And Iron Agenorwegian Dialects.
As Instruments, Items Are Used That May Have Been Already Available To Humans In The Iron Age, Such As Drums, Bones Or Spears. The Female Vocals Of Maria Franz Are Ethereal, While Uwe Faust's Throat Singing Recalls The Tibetan Or Mongolian Style. Christopher Juul Uses A Chirping Whisper As Vocals.
As A Further Stylistic Device Elaborately Designed Costumes Are Worn By The Band Members On Stage. They Are Partly Based On The 'spiritual Traditions Of The Eurasian Circumpolar Peoples' Or Reproduce Historically Correct Images Of Viking-age Clothing.
The Band Has No Connection With Modern Political Or Religious Concepts.
