Left Spine Down announces 'Caution'

14th of May 2011, 18:46

Left Spine Down started on a new studio album and hunkered down to spend the winter in the studio working with legendary industrial and alternative rock producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson).

Out of these sessions, a new 10-track album, Caution, emerged. Caution will be released on Metropolis Records in August 2011.

Left Spine Down hails from Vancouver, the city that is both a hub of electronic and industrial bands such as Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly and home to bloody-knuckled DIY punk legends like DOA and SNFU.

In Left Spine Down, the city's sounds have found a fusion that the band calls cyberpunk.

Left Spine Down (also known simply as LSD) blend elements of industrial, punk, and alternative rock into a sound that is catchy yet abrasive, melodic yet fist-pumping, with detailed electronica-style programming and an "eff you" punk attitude. Formed by keyboardist Jeremy Inkel of industrial legends Front Line Assembly with frontman Kaine Delay, the band has no shortage of firepower both on stage and in the studio.

True to their punk DIY roots, LSD's first EP was 2007's self-released Smartbomb, produced by Chris Peterson (Front Line Assembly, Noise Unit, Decree, Unit 187). The disc was met with a frenzied reception from fans and critics worldwide. Following on its heels in 2008 was their first full-length release, Fighting For Voltage, also produced by Chris Peterson and mastered by Shaun Thingvold (Strapping Young Lad, Lamb of God). Fighting For Voltage was released on Vancouver-based industrial label Synthetic Sounds.

March 2009 saw the band release their first remix album, Voltage 2.3 Remixed & Revisited, featuring remixes from legends and big hitters of the industrial scene including KMFDM, SKOLD, Revco, Combichrist, XP8, Download, 16 Volt, The Birthday Massacre, and more. The collection also featured a new original song, "Welcome to the Future," which has since become a fan favorite, plus covers of Nirvana's "Territorial Pissings" and Joy Division's "She's Lost Control."

In September 2009, the band embarked on a major North American tour opening for Al Jourgensen's Revolting Cocks on their LuBriCaTouR alongside legendary sideshow performer Jim Rose. In support of the tour the band released a second remix album, Smartbomb 2.3: The Underground Mixes. This double CD featured artists as diverse as mind.in.a.box, Angelspit, Dismantled, Cyanotic, Memmaker, Psy'Aviah, Decree, Amduscia, Decoded Feedback and Helalyn Flowers, just to name a few.

October 2009 saw the band take the fight to Europe via leading darkrock and industrial label Danse Macabre Records, who released the bands first two albums in a double CD entitled Fighting For Voltage: Deluxe Edition.

2010 found the band hitting the road again in May and June for their second North American tour, this time as the special guests on the MIDI Ghetto Tour featuring legendary machine rock co-headliners 16volt and Chemlab.

So now it’s waiting for “Caution”!
