New Build have announced details of the release of a new single.
Look In Vain, is released on Sunday Best Recordings on Monday 20th October 2014.
Look In Vain is taken from their forthcoming new 10-track self-produced album, Pour It On, which was recorded at their own Lanark Studios in Shoreditch and Club Ralph in West London with Mark Ralph (Franz Ferdinand, Clean Bandit). It will be released on Sunday Best Recordings on Monday 20th October 2014.
The album taps rich seams in unexpected places. The 10 songs work best when seemingly radically different ideas are juxtaposed. Steered by the pair's love of new-age folk music (Richard and Linda Thompson, Incredible String Band), vintage British science fiction (John Wyndham) and modern techno (they DJ all over the place), the messages woven into the album are poetic and political; in some ways harking back to a time that never was, to those halcyon days of the golden future.
"Even though it has elements of Chicago house and Detroit techno, there's definitely an eccentric, English feel to the record," says Al from the band who played with LCD Soundsystem as a guitarist during time off from Hot Chip. "I was interested in getting a sense of pathos into this actually quite uplifting music."
The band recently unveiled the first track from the album, The Sunlight, with a video directed by renowned film-makers Sam Lawlor and Lindsey Pollock (The One That Got Away).
The band, who this summer appeared at both the Glastonbury and Bestival festivals and more recently played a low-key secret show at London’s Betsey Trotwood pub, have announced details of a UK tour.
