Three brand new releases on Enfant Terrible this summer

29th of June 2011, 07:11

The Dutch Enfant Terrible-label informs us about three new releases coming your way this summer.

Kania Tieffer / Family Jewels - split EP 7" Expected in July, limited to 250 copies

Kania Tieffer does not need an introduction... she was part of several Enfant Terrible live events through out the years, and was present on the Hex Grammofoonplaten compilation.

This EP was imagined and planned for a long time. In the end it came out as this: the last record ever by Kania Tieffer and the first record ever by the new project of the same musician, called Family Jewels.

While Kania Tieffer was always crazy, twisted and trashy elektro pop, her new project Family Jewels is like a Crystal Castles zonked out of their heads on acid. So be prepared for this next attack!

Artifecal - I Sell My Blood EP 7" Expected in July,

Limited to 150 copies, in two versions of 75 numbered copies, handmade screen printed cover, sticker as insert

From Spain comes Artifecal to spice up your acid party. In an unheard raw way Artifecal brings together 60’s psych pop/rock and 80’s lo-fi electronic tunes.

In doing this the act creates trashy songs that sound like Crystal Stilts on a casiotone trip. This is stuff that if made in the 1960's would have made it to the Pebbles / Nuggets series.

It has the same lo-fi garage feel but, as said, adds the cheap electronic instruments from the 1980's.

Sololust - Total Loss / Sight shuffle (7", on orange vinyl) : Expected July, limited to 250 copies

To continue the exploration of the current Dutch electronic scene in its broadest sense we present a 7" by Sololust.

On "Kamp Holland" Sololust presented a somewhat EBM influenced dark elektro track. On this 7" he shows a different side of the project. Sololust is equally good in creating pounding dark elektro, as techno influenced minimal electronic tracks as in truly excellent synth pop.

"Total Loss" / "Sight Shuffle" is simply superb synth pop of the highest possible level. The A-side is a moody electronic pop song in a style the artist himself calls emotronics. It has that special Wolfsheim kind of quality, but it is darker then Wolfsheim has ever sounded.

The B-side fits perfect with the A side, only it is an instrumental piece which gives the track an ambient touch. This is an excellent track for playing in your car while driving at night. Nighttime music at its very best!

On this 7" Sololust sounds like a bastard love child of Jim Morrison jamming with Porn.Darsteller and backed by the band of Q Lazarus on electronic instruments.

New discovery: Northern Sadness

28th of June 2011, 22:39

It’s been quite a while since we added someting to our “New discovery”-series but the the band we found this time comes from Belgium.

Founded last summer, Koen De Brabander (vocals) en Philippe Lefief (Keys) were looking for a sound that contains no guitars with the main goal to be original and not just another rip off.

With success as in one year they recorded their debut 'Riddles Of Lunacy' which got the attention from Echozone and since 15th June they signed a recorddeal with the German label.

This autumn their cd will be in the store.

You want a description? Perhaps you can have a look at the You Tube-clip below but over here we say dark electro with VNV Nation vocals. That good? Yeah, that good!

Free concert from Der Klinke in Gent

28th of June 2011, 18:05

One of the bands we hear most from in Belgium are Der Klinke.

In little time they got signed on the German label Echozone and "Square Moon" is an album that should be labelled in the 80's as a wave rock classic.

Smart, powerful, original, danceable, dark...that's Der Klinke!

On 23rd September you can see Der Klinke for free in the Kinky Star-venue in Gent.

The gig starts at 21.30 sharp with a free wave/goth/EBM-party which can be considered as the ideal warming up for the New Wave Club Classix-party at the Vooruit on 24th September.

By the way, don't forget to visit the Kinky Star this Friday 1st July as there's another free gig by Dark Poem and Sol XIX

'Should The World Fail To Fall Apart' by Peter Murphy reissued on Cherry Red

27th of June 2011, 19:03

"Should the World Fail to Fall Apart" is the first album by the British solo artist Peter Murphy, formerly of the gothic rock band Bauhaus. It was released in 1986

"Should the World Fail to Fall Apart" is a collection of singles written and recorded in 1986 with L. Howard Hughes with hopes of finding Peter a Post-Bauhaus identity other than the "Godfather of Goth”.

The album displays a side of Peter Murphy rarely heard as the songs are very Romantic and out of the mainstream. The sounds are soft and orchestrated, the lyrics are poetic and deep, atmosphere is spacious, and the general tone is somber and reflective.

This 2CD reissue of the Classic 1989 album comes with a second disc of bonus material, as well as new notes and enhanced booklet It will be released on 22/07/11
