Danish topseries Unite One featuring Mads Mikkelsen out in January on Arrow.
Following the massive success of their Bafta winning series The Killing and Borgen, and the newly Bafta nominated series’ The Bridge, Arrow Film’s Nordic Noir label are pleased to announce the release of UNIT ONE: SERIES THREE
With an overwhelming response to the season one and two releases earlier this year, Arrow Films’ Nordic Noir label is pleased to announce the UK DVD box set debut of UNIT ONE: SERIES THREE on Monday 6th January 2014.
Based on actual, real-life Danish crimes which have occurred across the last 2 decades, the International Emmy award winning UNIT ONE is one of the hardest hitting of the Scandi-crime series. It follows an elite mobile police force, referred to as a flying squad, as they are dispatched to assist local police in solving some of the most complex and high profile cases Denmark has ever bore witness to.
Starring alongside Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, The Hunt, Casino Royale, Pusher), who won the Best Actor Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, are some of Denmark’s brightest and best-loved actors, as seen on UK screens in The Killing, Borgen and Wallander.
Exhilarating and fast-paced, we follow the fascinating and dangerous world of the UNIT ONE squad as they immerse themselves in the Danish underworld. Prepare to be thrilled by their commitment and affectionate solidarity, yet puzzled by the often horrifying examples of human nature they face in their day-to-day work.
UNIT ONE asks many questions of the heroes and heroines portrayed in the show, such as what happens to those in real life who have chosen a career such as the ones portrayed in the series? A member of the flying squad is away from home 230 days a year, can a marriage and a family cope with that? What qualifications? What dedication? What kind of team spirit do these men and women possess in order to achieve one of the highest success rates in the world?
Following their success with the likes of The Killing, Borgen, and The Bridge, Arrow continue to strive in bringing UK viewers the very best in Scandinavian television via their Nordic Noir label. While the aforementioned titles all aired on BBC4 prior to their box set releases, Arrow have also enjoyed acclaim for bringing never-before-seen Nordic shows directly to UK living rooms via the home entertainments market.
Their passion and excitement for the genre found Arrow looking further into the Nordic catalogue and it was there that they discovered an array of fantastic, high quality shows, crying out for a new audience.
In addition to UNIT ONE, 2013 has seen the Nordic Noir label release The Accused starring Sofie Gråbøl , Above The Street Below The Water, starring Sidse Babett Knudsen, The Protectors and Van Veeteren direct to UK fans via DVD and Digital Download; all of which have been received exceptionally well.
Who are they?
Sixth Comm is a British experimental, rock and synth pop group founded by Patrick Leagas in 1986. Sixth Comm is influenced by Norse magic and mythology. Leagas would appear to be the main force behind this outfit, which somewhat confusingly, releases albums both as Sixth Comm and as Mother Destruction. Both names are sometimes present on the CDs.
Patrick Leagas was originally vocalist and percussionist for controversial neo-folk/post-industrial group Death in June. The earliest recordings of Sixth Comm contain different versions of a number of Death In June songs. A Nothing Life cassette was initially labelled as being a joint effort, although later reissues made no mention of his former band.
Early works continued in the familiar neo-folk direction, but gradually Sixth Comm found their own voice. Leaving behind the imagery of Death in June, Leagas renamed himself O'Kill and began to introduce electronic beats. The songs began to revolve more and more around neopagan imagery. Somewhere along the line, the female vocals of Leagas' wife, "pagan priestess" Amodali, were added to the line-up. The group headed further into an experimental direction and began to utilise tape-loops and tribal beats, to provide musique concrète-influenced soundscapes of a genuinely eerie dimension, a wild pagan passion driving unsettling atmospherics. These albums started to be released under the moniker Mother Destruction.

From the director of The Housemaid (Im Sang-soo) comes a ‘bitter and delicious’ thriller of lust, seduction, decadence and betrayal.
One of South Korea's richest families, controlled with a vice-like grip by Geum-ok (Yoon Yeo-jeong), wife of the prominent but disillusioned family-business President, Yoon (Baek Yun-shik), is in the throes of crisis. Her newly appointed personal secretary, a handsome and ambitious young man, Joo (Kim Kang-woo), deals with the families immoral-and illegal-activities whilst patiently waiting for his own chance for financial reward, but when he is witness to an affair the balance of power shifts, with tragic consequences.
As their personal and professional empire begins to unravel and a scandalous arrest threatens to expose the family's unsavoury secrets, the steely-cold Geum-ok turns to the basest form of revenge left available to her, cold-blooded murder.
Lost between his own shrinking sense of morality and a shortcut to an ever-growing bank balance, Joo has to decide between rescuing what is left of his moral soul and a the plentiful supply of cold-hard-cash that lies waiting for him on wooden pallets in the household’s basement vault.
