DEPARTMENT S
The legendary Department S are back, the band that brought you ?Going Left Right? ?I Want? and the classic ?Is Vic There?? will be on the road this summer. Prior to playing festival dates in UK, Belgium, Holland and Spain they will be on stage at the Hoxton Bar&Grill. Their latest single ?Wonderful Day? has been getting airplay on indie radio stations throughout Europe, as a bit of trivia it features some great guitar playing from Adam & the Ants Marco Pirroni and bass from the Sex Pistols Glen Matlock?…a new long player ?The Constructivists? Nightmare? is in the final stages of recording for an Autumn release.
TV21 play their first London gig in 28 years as guests of Department S in support of the release of Snakes And Ladders: The Almost Complete TV21 on Rev-Ola Records.
Released on 29/03/10. This is the first-ever retrospective of TV21, an acclaimed Scottish post-punk band at the dawn of the 1980s. Having recorded a couple of acclaimed singles on their own Powbeat label, they signed to the Deram label also home at the time to Mo-Dettes.
The band recorded a string of singles including the near-hit, Snakes & Ladders as well as appearing on the Old Grey Whistle Test and supporting the Rolling Stones in 1982.
Their album, A Thin Red Line, is a must for any fan of Orange Juice, Scars or even The Jam, whom TV21 supported. TV21 reunited a couple of years ago for several shows and a new album, Forever 22. The band are fully supporting this compilation.
