DIRTY K

Along with Sylvgheist Maëlström, SaturmZlide and Wieloryb, Dirty K is a newcomer to the Hands label. They hail from the UK, call themselves a rhythm & noize act and have been around since 2006. They don't add anything new to the genre but that's getting hard anyway. Unfortunately it all sounds a bit too standard, raw crushing beats and even some noisy guitars over a few samples about the usual hazards like nuclear power plants, Judgement Day and so on and so on...

The album takes a while to get on track, however when you give it enough time, you can find many variations in rhythms and the occasional interludes and samples keep it interesting enough. Pounding powernoise or even some destroyed drum n bass sections (Cataclysm and especially Something Dark) will make adventurous DJ's very happy.

A very good rhythmic dancefloor killer could be the Greyhound-like "Smog Blanket", it is menacing, harsh, repetitive and brutal, everything a growing boy (or girl) needs! Even harsher is "Frequent Thoughts Of Violence", with a title like that, you might as well hold a pneumatic hammer against your ear...

It takes a while to start, but eventually a rewarding album... no Greyhound standard however.
