nTTx is the solo project of Gord Clement who lives in Toronto, Canada. With this project Clement combines the ingredients of industrial, Synthpop and EBM in a smart way and with the right balance. ‘Of Beauty And Chaos’ is the follow-up of his debut EP 'Objective' that was released in April 2016. The first three tracks ‘MoveDark’; ’Prey’ and ‘True’ are clearly dominated by the EBM spirit but opposite to many of today's electro/industrial bands Gord Clement had the courage to turn the vocal distortion knob all the way down. Even the typical EBM vocal delays and shouts are hard to find on this entire EP. In-between those first tracks and the Rotersand rework of ‘Fall Beautiful’, ‘Earth’ might sound bit like the duck out the water but remains a well crafted song. The only thing I’m personally not sure of on this record is the addition of the last track which happens to be a cover song of the 80s classic ‘Eye Of The Tiger’, originally performed by Survivor. Still ‘Of Beauty And Chaos’ is worthwhile checking out if like the general EBM sound and (secretly) like VNV Nation a little bit too.

nTTx is het soloproject van Gord Clement, uit Toronto, Canada. Met dit project combineert Clement de ingrediënten van industrial, Synthpop en EBM op zeer een slimme manier en de juiste balans. ‘Of Beauty and Chaos' is de follow-up van zijn debuut EP 'Objective' dat eerder in april 2016 werd uitgebracht. De eerste drie tracks 'MoveDark'; 'Prey' en 'True' worden duidelijk gedomineerd door de typische EBM-geest, maar in tegen stelling tot veel van de hedendaagse electro / industriële bands heeft Gord Clement de moed gehad om de stem distortion knob helemaal toe te draaien. Zelfs de typische EBM delays en kreten zijn moeilijk terug te vinden op deze EP. Tussen die eerste stevige tracks, en de Rotersand-herwerking van 'Falls Beautiful', kan het nummer ’Earth' een beetje als de vreemde eend in de bijt klinken, maar blijft een goed gemaakt lied. Het enige waar ik persoonlijk niet zeker van ben op deze plaat, is de toevoeging van het laatste nummer dat namelijk een cover is van de 80's klassieker 'Eye Of The Tiger', oorspronkelijk uitgevoerd door Survivor. Toch is 'Of Beauty and Chaos' zeker de moeite waard om eens uit-te-checken als u van de algemene EBM-sound houdt en (in het geheim?) ook een beetje van bijvoorbeeld VNV Nation.
