Promenade Cinema present their third full-length album Afterlife: ten tracks blending cinematic synthpop and darkwave, brimming with emotional intensity.

The British duo, consisting of Emma Barson and Dorian Cramm, made their debut in 2018 with Living Ghosts.

On this new release, Promenade Cinema deliver powerful electronics and compelling vocals. The musical range is wide: from atmospheric, minimalist pieces such as the opener The Abyssal, to highly danceable darkwave like Rituals.

Variety is certainly not lacking. With Runners, we are treated to a dose of euphoric, uplifting synthwave, wrapped in a warm eighties sound. Emma’s vocals act as a thread running through the album, shining in every track. While Afterlife is overall very accessible, each song carries a shadowy edge. Empty Space, for instance, is a ballad infused with pop melancholy.

Grand and epic moments are also present. Play With Descends combines grandeur with broad orchestration, strings, and expansive synthesizers.

With this third album, Promenade Cinema confirm their standing in the genre. Darkwave to revel in: musically diverse, powerful, captivating, and at times downright epic. A band more than ready to cross the pond and musically delight audiences on the European mainland.

Promenade Cinema presenteert hun derde volledige album Afterlife: tien nummers met een mix van filmische synthpop en darkwave, vol meeslepende emotionele intensiteit.

Het Britse duo, bestaande uit Emma Barson en Dorian Cramm, debuteerde in 2018 met Living Ghosts.

Op dit nieuwe album laat Promenade Cinema krachtige elektronica en overtuigende vocalen horen. De muzikale breedte is groot: van sfeervolle, eerder minimalistische nummers zoals opener The Abyssal, tot zeer dansbare darkwave in het nummer Rituals.

Afwisseling is er dus genoeg. Zo krijgen we met Runners een dosis euforische, opwekkende synthwave, gehuld in een warme eightiessound. De vocalen van Emma vormen een rode draad doorheen het album en komen in elk nummer sterk naar voren. Hoewel Afterlife over het algemeen heel toegankelijk klinkt, blijft er rond elke song een donker randje aanwezig. Empty Space is bijvoorbeeld een ballad die pure popmelancholie uitstraalt.

Ook groots en episch materiaal ontbreekt niet. Play With Descends combineert weidsheid, brede orkestratie, strijkers en uitbundige synthesizers.

Met dit derde album bevestigt Promenade Cinema zijn plaats in het genre. Darkwave om heerlijk op los te gaan: muzikaal divers, stevig, meeslepend en soms ronduit episch. Een band die gerust de oversteek mag maken om ons op het Europese vasteland muzikaal te verblijden.
