The Fall follows the lives of two hunters – a serial killer stalking his victims and a high-powered detective superintendent on his trail and the second series commences ten days after Paul Spector told DSI Stella Gibson that she would never catch him. As Gibson tries in vain to help Spector’s surviving victim remember the identity of her attacker, Spector is forced to deal with some loose ends. His return to Belfast reveals that someone from his past has been helping police with their enquires, forcing Spector to change his plans with terrifying consequences.

In het vervolg op THE FALL 1 gaat detective Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson,’The X-Files’) onvermoeibaar door met de jacht op seriemoordenaar Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan, ’50 Shades of Grey’).
Na een mislukte moordpoging is Paul gevlucht naar Schotland. Wanneer echtgenote Sally hem bestookt met een hoop vragen besluit de seriemoordenaar van Belfast om terug te keren naar de stad en alle losse eindjes aan elkaar te knopen. Hij kiest een nieuwe prooi uit en een nieuwe methode. Intussen krijgt Gibson de dader langzamerhand in het vizier en zet ze alles op alles om Pauls nieuwe slachtoffer te redden. Hij bereidt zich echter voor op zijn ultieme zet...
