Primtive Call is a new straight-forward yet melodic garage hardcore punkband from Bursa, Turkey, which formed at the beginning of 2024. They released a first two minute song called 'Im Sweet Enough' on Bandcamp in November 2024. 'Im Sweet Enough' sounds like old-school early 80s American hardcore and late 70s English punk.
When did Primitive Call start?
Yagiz Inanc: Primitiever Call started in January 2024, but we have known each other for a long time. We met thanks to our local football club, three of us following the team. We have similar stories and common interests. When we were done with university, we turned back to our hometown. We were waiting for the right time and we did what we should do.
How would you describe what Primitive Call does?
No frills punk rock. We crossover just about everything, but we aim to stay punkrock-based.
How do you remember the recording of 'I'm Sweet Enough'?
We can summarize the recording session as highly educational because it was our first recording. We experienced the whole process from the very beginning to the final touch. It sounded quite cheeky and aggressive, which we were contemplating. It took two days to record. We are happy with the result.
Were you in other bands before?
We’ve never been in a band before. This was something we wanted to do.
What does the name Primitive Call refer to?
It's inspired by a song called ‘Up Against The Wall’ by The Skints, a reggae punk band from London. ‘No man can resist the primitive call’. It stands for the urge that we carry.
Are you part of a local Bursa-based punk scene?
Yes, we are a part of a scene. It's such a small community which is embedded with the metal scene. Regarding the latest status of our country, having an interest in music and focusing on it is quite a hard thing. We believe that these kinds of attempts are valuable for the alternative scene.
What have you been listening to recently?
The Chisel, High Vis, Spiritiual Cramp, Drug Church, Show Me The Body.
What are your future plans with Primitive Call?
We have released only one song, but we are planning to release an EP. We are working on it these days.
