Canadian synthpop artist EVA X proudly presents her new digital-only EP, Electrowoman.
Electrowoman was recorded and produced by Gaby Marie. It was mixed by Shane Stephenson and Chris Lacroix, and mastered by Chris Lacroix. EVA X is delighted to present two remixes as well, one of "Virtualsexua" by Edmonton’s Virtual Terrorist, and one of "Subsume" by Philadelphia-based Silver Walks. The artwork for Electrowoman was created by Edmonton-based artist Konn Lavery.

"Electrowoman is my first EP and pretty much my first release as a solo artist/songwriter/producer ever. I was in a pop-punk band for a few years but wasn't satisfied with the level of creative input and direction I had. After running into this in a couple projects, I started writing my own music. The first songs were almost bluesy, until I was introduced to synthpop and EBM by a few of my friends who pushed me to learn more about synths and production. Electronic music represented an opportunity to sort of own the creative process from start to finish, so I embraced it and here we are.
This sort of theme of independence definitely comes up in my writing, most notably in "Subsume", which is pretty much an entire song about the pressure to compromise on your career as a young woman to start a family and settle down."

BIOGRAPHY:
EVA X is the solo project of Gaby Marie, a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and robot queen from Calgary, Canada. Stylistically, it's a combination of minimal synth and futurepop, layered with rich vocals. Inspirationally, it’s an examination and celebration of love, loss, connection, and the unique tradeoffs and joys of being a woman and artist.
On this day, exactly 30 years ago, Nitzer Ebb released ‘Control I’m Here’ (MUTE71 - 24 Oct 1988). It was the first single taken from their second and upcoming studio album ‘Belief’ (STUMM 61- 09.01.1989).
It reached position 100 in the UK Single Chart and position 14 the US Dance chart.

Today it’s been exactly 29 years since Nine Inch Nails released ‘Sin’ (October 10th, 1990), their third single taken from the NIN debut album Pretty Hate Machine. The song peaked at number 35 in the UK single charts.
Ever since the song became one of NIN’s most wanted and played song on underground parties as well as being played live by the band.
The single versions of the song ‘Sin’ differentiate significantly from the album version, opposed to the rather synth-pop version we can hear on the album Pretty Hate Machine, it was produced with a more EBM approach. With distorted vocals and its alternate instrumentation it became the basis for the nowadays live version.
The original release contained three variations of ‘Sin’ as well as Nine Inch Nails' first officially release cover song ‘Get Down Make Love’, originally by Queen. Although all versions of ‘Sin’ were produced by Adrian Sherwood & Keith LeBlanc, the cover was produced by Trent Reznor and co-produced by Al Jourgenson of Ministry.

Four friends started to make music more than 30 years ago and today they are still friends who still make music, just for fun. Perhaps very naive but still with a heart for music.
These Belgians are quite popular in Germany, England, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy. In England, they are even called "the best kept Belgian secret". In Belgium almost everybody knows them.... a forest ranger, a video director, an art director and a booking agent, a strange combination that seems to work out well. Their songs are dark, romantic and pure. New Wave as it used to be but also contemporary. The rhythm is slower, the topics are up to date. Yoga Noise about how unhealthy it is to live healthily, Dark Room is about life without light and how your senses feed your worst thoughts, Phantom Chase is about the eternal search and pursuit of your archetype. Cadaver Synod is again about the absurdity of religion, with the co-operation of Blaine L. Reininger (Tuxedomoon). The music is sensual and passionate.
Our proposal to you: listen to the music and let it touch you. And don't tell anyone else.
Small anecdote: "The album "XII" is the result of, again, a "naive" idea: let's make a song every month with only the first takes and make an accompanying video with the song. Sometimes it was difficult, even impossible and yet, it worked. Or... how innocent ideas can lead to a good story."
