Two amazing Roland albums back on vinyl for the first time + bonus tracks !
Roland Van Campenhout is for sure one of the most unique Belgian artists. Active since the 60’s of the past century Roland built up an extensive and eclectic discography. More than 20 albums on which folk, blues, rock, world music, movie- and theatre soundtracks … all celebrate together, creating a new musical dimension defining the true free musical spirit Roland really is. He received multiple Awards, toured the world with Rory Gallagher and played with Tim Hardin, Leo Kottke, Ian Anderson and the entire Belgian scene.
Starman Records presents now his two first solo albums for the very first time back on vinyl as well: “A Tune For You” from 1971 and “One Step at the Time” from 1972. Both albums offer a fresh and exciting mix of folk, blues, pop and rock, covered with a thin layer of psychedelica typical for those days. These re-releases contains also 8, previously unheard bonus, live recordings discovered in the archives of the Belgian national radio (VRT) and which are added to both albums.
Starman Records releases again two rare gems from the Belgium’s rich musical past, absolutely worth to be (re-)discovered!
Starman Records brengt nu zijn twee eerste albums terug uit op vinyl: A Tune For You uit 1971 en One step At The Time uit 1972.
After the successful release of the album “Vitriolic” in 2015 and a huge demand of the fans, Me The Tiger and Repo decided to make the debut officially available again. Although it is the very first output of the band, you will find all the elements, which make Me The Tiger such an outstanding band.
While the band is currently working on a follow up to “Vitriolic”, their fans can bridge the time gap with the original debut of “Me The Tiger”. The story of ME THE TIGER began at the same moment as the recording of the band's self-titled debut album. In February 2012, with a bunch of new songs on a USB stick in one hand and a bottle of red wine in the other, Tobias was knocking on the door of Gabriella and Jonas. The first song that was completed was "Pocket Sized Edition Ending", which in many ways would personify all that ME THE TIGER would become; energetic sequencers, power chords, driving rhythms and emotional vocals.
The writing process and the recordings proceeded throughout the year, and in late October the band chose the eight songs that took place on their debut album. The ninth song on this release, “Borlänge”, is in fact a tribute to the local music festival "Peace & Love" which was forced to close down in 2013. Lyrically the album is a reaction against all gender discrimination, xenophobia, religious fanaticism and greedy capitalism.
The album is also heavily influenced by a journey of Tobias, which took place six months before the album was recorded, where he became painfully aware of the result of occupation, oppression and hopelessness. On top of that the lyrics also deal with relationships, love and frustration.
Founding member Mario ‘Grizzly’ Pauwels (drums) and long time band members Dario Frodo (guitars), Josey Hindrix (vocals) and Stripe (bass) welcome guitarist TOM TAS into their ranks.
Tom is a 34-year old, hard working, professional musician, who has already been performing for several years with his other bands 23 Acez, Quantum Fantay and Neo-Prophet.
After the summer, Tom will also be joining the band in the studio, to start recording Ostrogoth’s next full length studio album, scheduled for release, late fall 2017.
Tom Tas: “Being a big Ostrogoth fan myself, for many years now, it’s an honour for me to be invited to play with these legendary Belgian Metal warriors, and I am greatly looking forward to join the band both on stage and in the studio”.
Throughout their 36-year carreer, Ostrogoth has always seen different talent come and go. So Tom is already the 8th guitarist and the 19th musician to join the ranks of the band and his addition makes the new line-up the Mk 14 version of the band.
Come and see the new line-up during the upcoming summer festival shows in Belgium, Germany and France.

They have an affinity for horror movies and venerate Vampira, Morticia Addams and Lily Munster. They are dreamy, wicked, full of fantasy, mysterious and aloof. They are Aeleth Kaven (vocals, song-writing & composer) and Dae Widow (vocals), two banshees intend on sharing sorrow, pain and loneliness with their fabulously unique voices. Dae loves hope and East-Asian Mysticism, Aeleth prefers the Occult and venerates destructive Black Metal. The antithesis is manifesto, inspiring their dissimilarity and shaping their youth. They recount the search for a particular place where injured souls find succour, tranquillity and where they can settle down. A place protected by darkness in which one can be anything one wishes to be and do as one pleases, indulging in one’s hidden fantasies. And they discovered that darkness is not necessarily to be feared but can be in fact most extraordinarily beautiful indeed.
“Ghosts” is an outstanding EP by this eclectic and imaginative duo, which employs minimal synth with original New Wave embellished by a decent portion of post-Punk. Particularly the elementary melodies and arrangements comprising bass, guitar, synthesizer and drum computer, enhanced with aloof yet enchanting wave-like voices casting their irresistible spell. Sentiments like sadness, emptiness and melancholy are transposed into their songs. At times Aeleth Kaven intones inexorably and dark, then soft and gentle in accord with Dae Widow’s dreamy and maiden-like voice. With a straight lined impellent drum computer, perfectly harmonised instrumentation and the echoing canto achieving an ancillary expanse. “Ghosts” is uncompromisingly cold, dark and minimalistic, eerie and sinister not unlike a walk through an ancient cemetery draped in fog and moonlight. “Find beauty in darkness” is their motto! LA SCALTRA represent the most gorgeous Gloomy-Goth, full of obscure creativity and heavenly tristesse.
Texan Industrial/Hard Rock band, Torque Order, released their latest EP, Metal Machines, On May 2th. Along with the title track, it features remixes by Society Burning, Adoration Destroyed, Kounter Mehzure, Precision Field, DJ 501 and Russell Rott. Pre orders are available now at the Torque Order Bandcamp page.
The EP also includes artwork by acclaimed conceptual artist, Soren Bendt. An official lyric video, created by video artist and musician Marcelo Nespoli, was released today on the band’s YouTube and Vimeo sites to promote the upcoming release. Lead singer Los Vincent had this to say about the track: “We have been working on Metal Machines for 5 years, and it has been a metaphorical thorn in our sides from the very beginning because each of us had different ideas for the direction the song should take. After years of hard work incorporating aspects of each member’s varied musical tastes, we feel it is one of our strongest tracks to date.” Drummer Jaye Leigh Vincent added, “Since our internal collaboration was so successful, we decided this would be a great track to open up to the music community and ask them to remix it. I am so impressed with each of their takes on the track.”
Torque Order has been writing and performing their brand of Industrial Rock since 2011. Originally the brainchild of Los Vincent, the addition of Josef Pfost on guitar and Jaye Leigh Vincent on drums helped to solidify the Torque Order sound: angst ridden vocals, heavy use of synthesizers, driving guitars and artillery like drums. It came together to form their debut release, Trust No One, in 2014. Their lyrics are rife with warnings for the people about how the world’s military, business and political regimes function. Politically neutral, their content is for all to hear, to promote positive change.
