The Land of Sometimes was voted ‘one of the top ten audio books ever’ by The Independent, leaving children worldwide to ask for an animated version of their favorite story. Not only are they getting what they wished for, their characters are about to hit the screen in full 3D animated glory!
TRICOAST WORLDWIDE TO HANDLE WORLDWIDE SALES
Always having a keen sense for great films and interesting projects, TriCoast Worldwide is pleased to announce it will be handling worldwide sales for The Land of Sometimes.
Based on the highly acclaimed audio book by UK songwriter and actress Francesca Longrigg, this 3D animated musical is set to amaze audiences of all ages. It was adapted to the screen by Hollywood veteran writer Martin Casella, with Tony Nottage (best known for the international box office success Saving Santa) producing.
Directed by animation heavyweight Leon Joosen (The Little Mermaid, Oliver & Co, Space Jam, Scooby Doo) The Land of Sometimes will feature BAFTA Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Ewan Mc Gregor (Trainspotting, Star Wars, Moulin Rouge!), who will be voicing the enigmatic Wish Collector. Joining him in the cast is the legendary Terry Jones (Monty Python & the Holy Grail, The Life of Brian).
All of the characters have their own songs, underscoring their individual quirky and original personalities. Knowing only a truly great artist will be able to do justice to the ever so fabulous pink fairy, Little Trink, the producers are reaching out to several hugely successful pop stars to voice this slightly mischievous character.
Creator Francesca Longrigg has adapted, crafted and edited the verses of this magical musical to fit a tune developed with her long-term music partner, Charles ‘Chicky’ Reeves, who achieved worldwide fame as producer and programmer for Grace Jones, OMD and – most recently – Prince. Together, they have conjured up an impressive sonic landscape that is sure to make a lasting impression on kids and adults alike.
Eevolver, whose team is responsible for multi-Academy Award winning and nominated films (such as The Life of Pi and The Golden Compass), will be handling pre-production led by Stacy Burstin and David Keller, while UK-based Giant Wheel Studios will take care of the animation. Production will begin in the UK and end in the US, with TriCoast Studios doing all of the postproduction.
The deal was negotiated by Tony Nottage for Nottage Productions and Daisy Hamilton for TriCoast Worldwide.
NOT JUST AN ANIMATED FEATURE
No doubt about it: The Land of Sometimes is a wonderful imaginary world for children, featuring memorable characters, beautiful landscapes and enchanting music. With this in mind, the next step will be to develop toys, apps and other tie-ins that will captivate the look and feel of the film.
An amazing soundtrack has already been created. As soon as the actors have been cast and their voices recorded, children’s radio stations around the world will be contacted to pre-release the songs. Plans to involve the younger fans and make them part of this wonderful world have already been set in motion.
Additionally, an enhanced E-Book will be created that seamlessly blends together pictures, spoken words, songs and moving images to provide a truly immersive and interactive experience.
Film Fest Gent launches crowdfunding campaign for unique Alan Silvestri album
With the crowdfunding campaign ‘Bringing film music to your ears', fans of Alan Silvestri’s work can support the recording of Film Fest Gent’s newest album!Alan Silvestri is the central guest of this year's 15th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards on 24 October 2015. Film Fest Gent annually releases an album with music of the main guest of the #WSAwards in collaboration with Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé. This year we are honoured to be recording Silvestri’s best known scores from 'Back to the Future', 'Forrest Gump', 'Night at the Museum' and many others on this unique and exclusive compilation album.
Returns include a signed album by Silvestri himself, your name in the booklet, VIP tickets to the WSAwards and other perks. The greater the contribution, the more you will receive. The crowdfunding campaign will be launched on Wednesday, 3rd of June at the online platform Indiegogo. A budget of €12,500 is required to finance a share of the recording of the album.

De Amerikaanse componist Alan Silvestri ('Back to the Future', 'Forrest Gump') is de centrale gast van de 15e editie van de World Soundtrack Awards. Naar goede gewoonte zet Film Fest Gent deze componist nog even extra in de kijker door samen met Brussels Philharmonic een uniek album op te nemen, onder leiding van Dirk Brossé.
In ruil voor een bedrag naar keuze kan je verschillende unieke cadeaus of belevingen ontvangen: bijvoorbeeld een gesigneerd album door Silvestri zelf, een naamsvermelding in het album booklet, VIP tickets voor de WSAwards en zo verder. Hoe groter je bijdrage, hoe meer extra’s er zijn.
De crowdfunding campagne gaat van start op woensdag 3 juni en dit via het online platform Indiegogo. Er is een budget nodig van €12.500 om een deel van de opname van het album te kunnen financieren.

British composer Patrick Doyle receives World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award and Film Fest Gent launches crowdfunding campaign for a new Alan Silvestri album.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Patrick Doyle at the 15th World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, following the festival’s focus on British Cinema.
Artistic director of Film Fest Gent Patrick Duynslaegher on choosing the composer: “This year’s focus of the 42nd Film Fest Gent will be on British Cinema, so Patrick Doyle was the ideal candidate to grant the Lifetime Achievement Award to, during the 15th World Soundtrack Awards. Anyone who can still recount hearing Doyle’s score for Kenneth Branagh’s debut film Henry V in 1989 for the first time, knows that back then a great composer was born. Ever since, Patrick Doyle has been a close collaborator with Mr. Branagh and always gave a deeper musical layer to all of his films including the Shakespeare adaptations (Henry V, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It and Love’s Labour’s Lost). The immensely versatile Doyle enriched the films by Robert Altman, Ang Lee, Chen Kaige, Alfonso Cuarón and Brian DePalma (one of his greatest scores was for Carlito’s Way) with his alternating tragic, noble, triumphant and romantic compositions. With his work on blockbusters such as Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire he certainly proved his talent working on spectacular Hollywood action and adventure films.”
Patrick Doyle, who recently scored Disney’s international box office hit Cinderella, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the WSAwards Concert for his outstanding career in film music. A selection of his work will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Dirk Brossé. The American composer Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) and the 2014 WSAwards Discovery winner Daniel Pemberton (The Counselor, Steve Jobs) have also been confirmed as the central guest and performer of the evening.
