The Danes are thrilled after the victory in the 1st Schleswig War. Danish politicians now dream of incorporate Schleswig to the Kingdom of Denmark, in defiance of the peace agreement. 1864 heeft alle ingrediënten in zich om een van de meest spraakmakende series van de laatste jaren te worden: een driehoeksverhouding, een oorlog, verraad en sleutelmomenten uit de Europese geschiedenis.
1864 is het jaar waarin de felbevochten Tweede Deens-Pruisische Oorlog werd gestreden, met als inzet de hertogdommen Sleeswijk en Holstein. Maar meer dan over oorlog, gaat 1864 over de ongewone driehoeksverhouding tussen de onafscheidelijke broers Laust en Peter en hun knappe geliefde Inge. Zorgeloos groeien de drie kinderen samen op, tot de oorlog hen scheidt en de twee broers ten strijde trekken. 150 jaar later, in 2014, wordt de asociale Claudia verplicht een baan aan te nemen als thuishulp voor een 100-jarige baron. Ze vindt Inges verloren memoires, en zo wordt ons het aangrijpende verhaal verteld over Peter, Laust en Inge. Een verhaal over onmogelijke liefde en een vergeten oorlog die hun levens voorgoed veranderde.

SYNOPSIS
Het derde seizoen opent met Selina die, met het oog op een promotie, de stemmers in de Iowa Caucus voor zich probeert te winnen terwijl ze haar boek Some New Beginnings Soon signeert. Kort daarna horen Selina en haar staf dat Minister Maddox van Defensie aftreedt. Een mogelijkheid voor Selina om zich kandidaat te stellen in de presidentiële voorverkiezingen tegen Maddox, en haar aartsvijand, oorlogsveteraan Danny Chung.
In de loop van de tien afleveringen van dit seizoen zetten Selina en haar medewerkers een kantoor op in D.C. om de campagnemogelijkheden te verkennen. Zoals steeds laat Veep treffend zien hoe zelfs de kleinste beslissing in Washington repercussies heeft, met grote en onverwachte gevolgen.
