ith an EP recorded and produced by SikTh vocalist-cum-producer Justin Hill slated for July release, Heel have newly unveiled video 'Stranger', directed by other SikTh vocalist Mikee Goodman. See it HERE
Heel have spent last year tirelessly touring their self-titled debut release, cementing an international fan base in the process. And that’s not just social media metrics talking; despite still being an upcoming name, Heel - completed by guitarist Dan, bassist Yuta and drummer Tom - saw their 2013 touring schedule incorporate a successful headline tour of Japan.
Temporarily hanging out their touring britches in early 2014 to focus on creating a follow-up release, Heel found themselves once again working alongside SikTh vocalist-cum-producer Justin Hill to create Sophomore E.P, ’Stranger Just The Same’. “Justin always describes us as “Retro” cos we write all our stuff together with a guitar, a pen, and a pad, and then work it out as a group, before we ever involve the machines,” laughs vocalist Maggie. “We believe that reliance on technology slows you down creatively. We want to be thinking about where we want to go with a song artistically, not get bogged down in all the production stuff that will inevitably come later on anyway.”
Like many other unique creators, the young gods have never let trends or fashion interfere with their music… Thats why, since 1985, the trio from switzerland cultivates its own sound, its own rhythm and its own world, that has naturally grown and evolved through the years to become one of the most unpredictable and powerful outlets in the worldwide sonic turmoil. From their early mixes of new wave, stooges-like powertrip and electronic ambient (furiously captured on their 87 first lp), the young gods have covered a large scale of yesterday’s and today’s music that incorporates organic sound s from outer space (on “l’eau rouge”), elements of classical music (on “play kurt weill”) or heavy metal satire (on the amazing “tv sky” in 92)… That has never overloaded their major songwriting talent. A talent that reminds us today of such soulful and poetic artists as the Doors, Jeff buckley, Pink floyd, Nine Inch nails or Kraftwerk.
After a live album (“live sky tour”) came in 95 the overwhelming and worldwide success of “only heaven” (released on interscope us and produced once again by roli mosimann), a record that proved that the band was not just another industrial outfit but one of the most important musical channels of the last decade. With six albums to date, the young gods have created a magical universe of sound, landscapes and emotions attracting a huge and eclectic following, still surprised by the many different aspects of their music.
In 98, after being involved with various projects (al comet and “heaven deconstruction”) al and franz parted company from long time drummer üse. But the young gods soon recruited another long time friend, bernard trontin, to join them in their journey and they started a new european tour to melt themselves into a new form of blood rush, mind and sweat live experience.
Back in their hometown in 99, the pioneers of sampling started to build their own studio and locked themselves in to work on new songs, a long and awaited process of creation that as usual will be as unique as the fusion of three free electrons. Today, with the electronic overdose, the out of focus rock world and the multicultural melting pot, the young gods return with one of their most unanticipated and strong albums to date, “second nature” (produced by the band itself), an unclassifiable flow of digital and organic emotion showing the band at their highest energy level, pure and simple.
Through such strong tracks as “lucidogen” (the first single), “attends”, the mindblowing “supersonic” or “the sound in your eyes” and astral journeys as “in the otherland”, and “toi du monde”, the young gods have proven their relevance and their will to push the wall of sounds, forward.

HUMAN HAIR (Lovvers/Dignan Porch/Claw Marks) give away new track 'Chapter & Verse'
Having recently shared the video for single ‘Hungers’ – taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘My Life as a Beast and Lowly Form’ – London quintet now share another thunderous album track ‘Chapter and Verse’. Download it for free below...
Recorded by Ben Phillips on a boat docked in the Thames (Lightship 95) and mastered by the legendary Alan Douches (Sufjan Stevens, Owen Pallet, The Rapture) in New York, ‘My Life as a Beast and Lowly Form’ will be released on June 23rd on The state51 Conspiracy.
Human Hair have existed in one form or another since 2008. Since their first incarnation, they’ve had 3 different drummers, added a bass player and slowly acquired members that live in the same city.
Throughout this period, the only constants have been vocalist Jack Lenton - a former straight-edge, furniture salesman who is extremely verbose even via SMS – and guitarist Henry Withers, who has seen Lovvers (Wichita) come and go, is the co-founder of Homerton recording studio Sound Savers and grew up in the Transcendental Meditation community in Skelmersdale.
These two main forces of Human Hair sit on opposite ends of the musical spectrum, Lenton with his Nick Cave, Swans and esoteric soundtracks against Withers’ love of Pavement, The Fall and simple, no blues notes. The push and pull between them defines the band and makes for a thrilling and captivating sound.
Joined by Thom Sadler (ex Throats, Claw Marks) on bass and drummer Jordan Hayward, Human Hair’s final member is Joseph Walsh aka Dignan Porch (Captured Tracks) on guitar.
With the upcoming tour from The Rolling Stones, A-Film has released the legendary rockdocumentary Gimme Shelter that changed the world of music.
In December of 1969, four months after Woodstock, the Rolling Stones and Jefferson Airplane gave a free concert in Northern California, east of Oakland at Altamont Speedway. About 300,000 people came, and the organizers put Hell's Angels in charge of security around the stage. Armed with pool cues and knifes, Angels spent the concert beating up spectators, killing at least one. The film intercuts performances, violence, Grace Slick and Mick Jagger's attempts to cool things down, close-ups of young listeners (dancing, drugged, or suffering Angel shock), and a look at the Stones later as they watch concert footage and reflect on what happened.
