ESOTERIC RECORDINGS are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered edition of the classic debut album by the acclaimed saxophonist and woodwind player Johnny Almond.
"Patent Pending” was the first album by the Johnny Almond Music machine and was issued on Decca’s "Progressive” imprint Deram in 1969. The album was one of the finest Jazz Rock albums of the era, by a band featuring Geoff Condon ( Trumpet, Flugel Horn), Johnny Wiggins (Piano, Organ), Jimmy Crawford (Electric Guitar), Steve Hammond (Guitars), Roger Sutton (Bass) and future Yes member Alan White (Drums).
Johnny Almond first came to prominence through his work with John Mayall, Zoot Money, Alan Price and Chicken Shack, before he formed his own group in 1969. A truly original album, "Patent Pending” showcased Almond’s prowess as a composer and outstanding multi-instrumentalist, with him also playing Organ, Mellotron and Vibes in addition to a variety of Woodwind instruments.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been remastered from the original Deram master tapes and includes a booklet which fully restores the original album artwork and a new essay.

Esoteric Antenna are pleased to announce the release of a stunning new album by the award winning producer, sound designer, engineer & mixer STEPHEN W. TAYLER.
‘Ostinato’ is a labour of love, built on a forty years’ vision by Stephen, who is influenced by modern electronica and is a Minimalist composer in the tradition of Terry Riley, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich. "I had so many ideas for music and sound running around inside my head as a teenager, and now, more than 40 years on, technology has evolved to the point where I can realise this vision, as if the outer world and my inner music have finally synchronised, and the production of this album has at last been made possible.” says Stephen. "These are the sounds and ideas that have lived in my mind… the sound of voices, choirs, organs, the piano, the clarinet, synthesizers, vocoders, places and environments, from the depths of my memory and across the years.”
As a mixing and recording engineer, music producer, musician, composer and sound designer, Stephen has contributed this collection of talents to hundreds of world-class albums for artists including Rupert Hine, Suzanne Vega, Peter Gabriel, Underworld, Duncan Sheik, Howard Jones, Stevie Nicks, Milla Jovovich, Rush, Bob Geldof and Tina Turner. He most recently has been working with Kate Bush on her last two albums, as well as her first live performances in thirty-five years.
Stephen has always stayed on the leading edge of audio technology, starting with analogue and tape techniques, and subsequently he has been an early adopter of synthesis, sampling and digital technology. His current work includes engagements with moving image and sound design, as well as digital and installation art. "Ostinato” brings together all of Stephen’s talents and is a stunning example of the art of ambient and minimalist composition.

Esoteric Antenna are pleased to announce the release of the excellent new album by JOHN HACKETT; Another Life.
John Hackett is highly regarded for his distinctive flute sound in the world of progressive music and as an accomplished soloist. Solo flautist, guitarist, singer and composer, John is best known for his work with his brother Steve Hackett, the former Genesis guitarist, and the ambient group Symbiosis. John collaborated with his brother Steve on the albums, Voyage of the Acolyte and Please Don’t Touch before leaving Sheffield University to work with Steve, who had just left Genesis. This led to further recordings and tours of the UK, USA and Europe with John playing flute, guitar and bass pedals.
Another Life is John Hackett's long awaited new rock album and is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Checking Out of London (released in 2005). On his new record John Hackett is joined by brother Steve Hackett, ex-Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips and prog legend Nick Magnus to create an evocative musical landscape of powerful rock songs and rich melodies.

Originally forming in Malmo, Sweden in 1978, Silver Mountain were very much influenced by Deep Purple, Judas Priest, the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, but especially Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, from where the band took their name. Fundamental to the birth of classically inspired symphonic hard rock and heavy metal, a scene that also gave the world Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Europe, they evolved around lead guitarist Jonas Hansson
Although their vinyl debut was 1979 single ‘Man Of No Present Existence’ b/w ‘Axeman And The Virgin’, they wouldn’t record a full length LP until the highly influential, cult debut "Shakin’ Brains” in 1983, featuring future Yngwie members Jens and Anders Johansson, followed by "Universe” (1984), eventually releasing "Roses & Champagne” in 1988.
Although effectively splitting up after the release of "Roses & Champagne”, the band reunited their classic "Shakin’ Brains” line-up of Jonas Hansson (Guitars & Vocals), Jens Johansson (Keyboards), Per Stadin (Bass) and Anders Johansson (Drums) for 2001’s acclaimed reunion CD, "Breakin’ Chains”. As well as revisiting debut 45 ‘Man Of No Present Existence’ and ‘Axeman And The Virgin’, this version includes the previously Japan only bonus track, ‘Resurrection’.
This reissue includes live bonus tracks recorded September 4th, 2010 at Friluftsteatern, Malmö, Sweden, and appear on CD for the first time, including otherwise unavailable versions of ‘Shakin’ Brains’, ‘Maniac’ and ‘Universe’. For fans of: Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Rainbow, Stratovarius & Dragon Force

Return to the Last Chance Saloon by The Bluetones reissued on Cherry Red
The Bluetones are one of the most important and successful bands from the Britpop era and are re-issuing their catalogue and aptly kick things off the glorious "Return To The Last Chance Saloon.” In 1998, Melody Maker described the album as a "17 year old, good looking and popular” teenager. Now 17 years since its release, has that teenager retained its exciting, fresh and joyous (superior) qualities? Hell yeah!
"Return To The Last Chance Saloon” is a hit packed, gold selling, Top 10 album that was originally released in March 1998. Featuring the hit singles ‘Solomon Bites The Worm’, ‘If…’, and ‘Sleazy Bed Track’ plus mail-order only single ‘4-Day Weekend’, this re-issue is augmented by the addition of standalone Top 10 single ‘Marblehead Johnson.’
The bonus material included across this 2CD set includes each band member’s favourite B-side, plus a stunning gig recorded at BBC’s Sound City in Newcastle in 1998. A set packed with all their hits; it’s the sound of a band at the top of their game playing to a jubilant and adoring audience.
The 2CD, 36 track package is completed by the addition of previously unreleased BBC session tracks from the era and all contained in a tri-fold sleeve with a new booklet containing brand new sleevenotes from Mark Morriss.
"Return To.." is as fresh as your first outdoor breath on a crisp spring day, as adrenalising as a five mile freefall into neat vodka and as heartbreaking as finding an ex's hair on a long forgotten shirt.” Melody Maker, 1998
"At times better than anything they've ever done” NME, 1998
