Stabbing Westward was an American industrial rock band formed in 1989 by Christopher Hall (lead singer) and Walter Flakus (keyboards, programming). The band went through several different lineups during their thirteen year career. Christopher and Walter are the only original members. The pair was renowned as the song writing team behind most of Stabbing Westward's radio hits including "Save Yourself", "Shame", "So Far Away Nothing", "Lies" and "Violent Mood Swings". After four albums that included two gold records and eight years of touring with such music greats as Depeche Mode, the Sex Pistols, Kiss, Killing Joke, Front 242, Placebo and the Cult; Stabbing Westward formally broke up February 9, 2002. The Dreaming is a reunion of Stabbing Westward's founding members. The songwriting team is back with singer, Christopher Hall and keyboardist Walter Flakus, along with the one-time Stabbing Westward drummer Johnny Haro. The band is rounded out with Deadsy / Orgy guitarist Carlton Bost and bassist Brent Ashley from Static X. The Dreaming's previous releases include the single Every Trace, from their second record "PUPPET" which climbed the U.S. rock charts in 2012. "Ugly" was released in 2007 and "Etched in Blood" was featured on the Electra soundtrack. The band toured with acts such as Trust Company, Flaw and Trapt. The new album titled Rise Again was Chris Hall's choice. He wanted to deliver an album that brought back the early Stabbing Westward sound that fans have been asking for.
Although the name Stabbing Westward is now dead and buried, the founders of the band are pleased to "Rise Again" as The Dreaming with the intense and haunting music that made them a multi-platinum band.
Out by early January is a brand new cover album by Leaether Strip. "Aeppreciation" is a tribute to some of Claus Larsen's favorite artists including PJ Harvey, Soft Cell, Siouxsie and the banshees, The Normal, Twice a man, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode, Dead or alive, David Bowie, Cher, Judas Priest, Fad Gadget - Frank Tovey, Yazoo, DEVO, The Cure, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Kurt Grünewald Hansen, Roland Danielzig, Pia & Buster and Rest in peace Mother.

Messi Baghdad is on the shortlist for the Oscar for Best Short Film Fiction.
Sahim Omar Kalifa is currently in Los Angeles to present the film as part of a program of short films that the American Cinematheque organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Belgium. "I heard the news while I was in a restaurant with other Belgians. My first impression is indescribable. I've won more than 70 awards with my shorts but today is the happiest day of my life. "
Messi Baghdad tells the story of young Hamoudi, who, like the other children in the village where he lives, is a football fan especially from Lionel Messi. On the eve of the final of the Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Manchester United, the television refuse to play. Hamoudi then convinced his father to go to repair the device in Baghdad.
The short film has already toured the world with more than 150 selections in festivals and 46 awards and special mentions. The previous film Sahim Omar Kalifa, Land of the Heroes has also been shown in numerous festivals and his latest film, Bad Hunter, has now embarked on a successful international career.
The final list will be announced on January 15 and if the Belgian short film is there.
The scenario of Baghdad Messi was written by Sahim Omar Kalifa and Kobe Van Steenberghe. The latter produced the film with Hendrik Verthe for a production team (Image, The Circle). The film was supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund / Cinema Fund of the Ministry of Culture Sven Gatz.
