The Rezillos is a punk new wave band formed in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1976. Although emerging at the same time as other bands in the punk rock movement, the Rezillos did not share the nihilism or social commentary of their contemporaries, instead took a more light-hearted approach to their songs, preferring to describe themselves at the time as “a New Wave beat group”. Released in July 1978, the Rezillos’ only studio album Can’t Stand the Rezillos is now considered a classic album of the first wave of British punk. The Rezillos now return with ZERO, featuring twelve blistering tracks of swaggering punk rock. Touches of everything from Blondie and The B52s to The Cramps are reflected in the music, though thoroughly energized for today.
We have been returned to the Dreamweb. mind.in.a.box’s albums, Lost Alone, Dreamweb, and Crossroads created a world of electronic intrigue in a twisting, dark world. mind.in.a.box garnered praise from critics for their innovative, hard to categorize sound and story concepts. Instead of simply creating songs, mind.in.a.box pulls you into its world and stories, And over the arc continued on the new album Memories, we are taken once again into the dystopian world of Mr. Black and the mystery of the Dreamweb. The band uses the narrative to further explore themes of solitude, fear, self control, ego, and loss. With the dense, complex electronics MIAB is known for, the band masterfully creates moods and mixes them with highly danceable tracks to create a complex musical journey.
Future-Pop-icon Angels & Agony returns after a prolonged hiatus of almost 8 years. The new album „Monument“ combines gigantic melodies with massive beats on the Dutch band's most mature and best output, so far. Angels & Agony have always been masters of the art of fusing catchy melodies, grand-scale anthemic moments and a foundation of highly club-compatible electronic rhythms with thudding bass and moving beats.
The new album, which is aptly titled “Monument”, has the band elevating their captivating Future-Pop-sound to literally monumental heights. Every note has its place, while the band masterfully creates emotional arcs between club-sounds, Pop-sensibility, cleverly dosed bursts of pathos and honest feelings, with compositions that feel more mature and thought-out than ever before. It almost feels like the group deliberately took a long time in creating this record in order to create nothing short of a genre-milestone. When listening to the final result, which has been graced by a tight and full sound mix from renowned producer John Fryer (Nine Inch Nails, HIM, Die Krupps and many more), the only thing that one can say is: mission accomplished! Pretty much no other genre veteran has been able to dish up an electronic feast of this overall quality that is so filled to the brim with hit-potential in the past few years. A monument of Future-Pop!
