NEWS Post-Punk Artist Daniel Ouellette Brings Life To A Haunted House With New Album

Post-Punk Artist Daniel Ouellette Brings Life To A Haunted House With New Album

06th of August 2022, 11:17

Post-Punk artist Daniel Ouellette has just unveiled his new full-length LP, El Salon (A Happy Home Is A Haunted Home).

El Salon is a post-punk, synth-pop, new wave concept album that sings of the pleasures and difficulties of life within the setting of a haunted house. The album is also multi-lingual. Daniel will sing to you in Spanish about a werewolf, in English about a Ouija board, in Portuguese about a haunted house and in French about bats at Christmas time.

The title of the album, El Salón has multiple meanings. In Spanish it can reference a classroom, an art studio, a living room and of course, a salon. Daniel Ouellette says, "The best place I have learned to speak is in living rooms with loved ones who speak Spanish and this the title is in honor of my mates, my loved ones to whom I speak Spanish."

The album's subtitle pulls the concept of the album together. Should our protagonist buy a house that may be haunted? Each song tells a tale of joy or horror; what a home can be. Maybe some of us never want to leave our homes and others need to run. Or should we dance around our living room perhaps like a specter?

About the style and process of the album...

"The musical style that I wanted was a bit of a soft, warm synthpop approach. The first song comes in lyrically and musically right at you, but from there I was wanting to entice with softer tones and warmer singing than perhaps in some past recordings.

Almost of these songs were written by recording the percussion patterns and vocals and then adding the synth/keyboard parts after. This is a very back to haunted home for me because I had been working with musical instruments like strings, guitar, bass, accordion, etc. I wanted the beauty of simplicity."

Industrial bass artist SINthetik Messiah addresses violence in The Vatican with new single

05th of August 2022, 20:16

Louisiana-based industrial bass artist SINthetik Messiah has unleashed a provocative new single. "Assassins That Run On Faith" takes aim at violence and abuse in the Vatican.

Included in the recording is an authentic recording of Pope Francis apologizing to nuns for abuse.

The release includes a remix by none other than Tom Shear of Assemblage 23.

NOISE UNIT is back in full force!

05th of August 2022, 17:17

The unavoidable, staggering and pioneering Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly fame is back and in full force with industrial project NOISE UNIT. Today, Noise Unit announces the release of stunning full-length offering Cheeba City Blues out 21st October 2022 via powerhouse label Artoffact Records and share first single "Alone Again". The full length is in honour of the late electronic genius Jeremy Inkel (also of FLA fame) whose music is featured throughout.
"Alone Again" is a powerful track featuring candescent vocals from Leeb, sprawling ambience and punchy beats. An ode to growing old and losing our fight against time, the single is one of acceptance and staring into the dark, icy fate of death itself.
The album title, Cheeba City Blues, references William Gibson's novel "Neuromancer" set in Chibi City, Japan. It is considered one of the first in the cyberpunk genre, prompting Noise Unit to explore the various stylistic differences in cyberpunk, industrial and electronic/EBM in-depth. This mechanical miasma is nuanced and multifaceted yet recalls the essence and fluidity of Front Line Assembly. A true masterpiece, the record captures the enthralling soundscapes championed by Leeb and Inkel like no other. With arguably two of the most profound pioneers of the genre, Noise Unit is a force to be reckoned with.

Cheeba City Blues is the follow up to Noise Unit's 2021 record Deviator, also released via Artoffact Records. Deviator was the first full length from Noise Unit in over 15 years and included work by Leeb and Rhys Fulber. An exhilarating piece, the album saw praise from various outlets calling it, "a sweet taste of archetypal electro/EBM as only the pioneers could offer" (ReGen Magazine) and, "in rivethead heaven while Deviator spins", (V13 Media).

NEWS Industrial artist, Nuda addresses past trauma & mental illness with 'Trigger'

Industrial artist, Nuda addresses past trauma & mental illness with 'Trigger'

05th of August 2022, 13:15

Industrial artist, Nuda has just unveiled their new single, "Trigger" from the forthcoming album, Stranger.

"Trigger"'s title stemmed from PTSDs and mental illness. It’s also the theme of the new album. Past trauma or underlying emotions can come out so quickly and unintentionally because words or actions people say or do can trigger a bad memory and in response lash out or get anxiety, panic attacks, etc.

"Trigger" is the most industrial dance style song yet with inspirations of Front Line Assembly and Celldweller. Nuda is also working with the Melbourne Electro-Industrial band, Sirus on a remix which is set to release later this year.

"Trigger" is releasing on all streaming platforms on 1st July followed by Nuda's very first tour start date. Nuda will be joining Manifestiv on a California tour from 1st July - 9th July 2022.

Darkwave Duo Sever The Servants Drop Apocalyptic Debut LP

05th of August 2022, 11:17

Darkwave duo Sever The Servants have just unleashed their debut full-length, self-titled album on the Produkt 42 label.

The album's themes are generally apocalyptical with some political and social commentary. From the "right wing hivemind" theme of the title track to the things that slowly kill us day to day, each of the album's six tracks represent the freedom to explore with a complete lack of care towards staying in a "box".

A song like "Get In The Grave" serves as a sonic memento mori while "Haunt Me" was spawned from folk tales of sirens and banshees. "Cruel World" is lamenting the near-purgatorial state of existence in a world riddled with flaws while nearly embracing those very same flaws.

Synths wail and weep alongside of the vocals. The album is also rich with experiments in distorted instrumentation and textures, menacing sounds and dirty drums.

Sever The Servants is available on CD and on a all digital platforms including Bandcamp NOW!
