This month it’s 37 years ago Canadian industrial act Skinny Puppy released their very first EP Remission, a six track record, on Nettwerk Records (December 1984). In 1986, after their first full album Bites was released, Skinny Puppy released a cassette version of Remission with additional tracks expanding the release to a full-length album. In 1987 both albums Remission and Bites ended up together on one single CD album called Bites And Remission containing 17 tracks while the European PIAS version named Remission & Bites had only 14 tracks on it.
Besides the already recognizable and typical Skinny Puppy style the EP is filled with vocal samples taken from, amongst others, the 1943 Hitchcock movie Shadow Of A Doubt and even a sample of president Ronald Reagan’s speech about pornography as art.
The original release already contained some of Skinny Puppy’s classics songs like Smothered Hope, Far Too Frail and Solvent, tracks that still can be heard at many underground parties today.

Industrial Bass Act SINTHETIK MESSIAH Addresses Religious Hypocrisy With New Single
Industrial bass act SINTHETIK MESSIAH have just unveiled their new single, "Religious Soldier."
"Religious Soldier" Is about exposing religious leaders for brainwashing, abusing their followers and specifically, how they want their flock to be "good soldiers" in their own twisted version of what it means to serve God. Setting the tone of the new single, SINTHETIK MESSIAH’s “Religious Soldier” features a recording of a fake priest performing a fake exorcism on a brainwashed woman.
The sonic hammer of sound behind "Religious Soldier" draws musical inspiration from the hardcore drum and bass, power noise, ebm, and old school industrial music scenes. The main vocalist, Bug Gigabyte takes his vocals from a punk rock type scream to a full on male choir. Lyrically he begs the audience to wake up and not fall into a cult.
This two-track EP precedes a full length album due out in 2022.
"Religious Soldier" is available in digital format via Bandcamp NOW.
On this day, 51 years ago, Kraftwerk released their self-titled debut studio album (1 December 1970). The album was produced by Konrad "Conny" Plank and is often refered to as 'Kraftwerk 1'.
On this album Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider used two drummers, Andreas Hohmann and Klaus Dinger. Their drumming provides the album a rock-ish edge, making it sound quite distinctive from Hütter and Schneider's previous work. The album contains instrumentals only.
The cover design, credited to Ralf Hütter, is a curious nod to the influence of Andy Warhol and the then contemporary pop art movement, featuring a fluorescent-coloured traffic cone drawn in a Warhol-esque manner.
No material from this album has been performed in the band's live set since the Autobahn tour of 1975 and, to date, the album has not been officially reissued. The band is seemingly reluctant to consider the album a part of its canon and in later interviews, Schneider referred to the first three Kraftwerk albums as "archaeology".
In 1971 the album peaked in the German album charts at position 30.

Darkwave Band, TIGERCIDE Brings Chaos & Harmony To Their Single, 'I Of Tiger'
Darkwave band, TIGERCIDE has just unveiled their new single, "I Of Tiger."
"I Of Tiger" taps the soul, a reminder to be aware of the chaos of one's external and internal world. It's a song of discernment and following one's true path regardless of the way the world moves. Mind and body in harmony, as no one can disarm the soul but one's own self.
TIGERCIDE brings the light into the dark, with a dirty synth hook and a grimy rhythm. Vocalist, Shexist sails above the electronic mayhem to deliver a transcending message.
"I Of Tiger" is available NOW on all digital platforms.
"Compromise Is Defeat" is the new full length solo album from Mirland and the first since "Mechanic" (released by Raumklang Music in 2017). The ten track is a collection of industrial techno / power noise / dark trance tracks initially composed from 2018 - 2021 while Mirland was mainly composing, remixing or producing for other acts.
Early versions and sketches were tested at various live performances during that period but none were actually produced or mixed as complete tracks. During the fall of 2021 the final tracks were chosen and given the full studio treatment.
"Compromise Is Defeat" is a statement for a time of turmoil. With a focus on hard beats and energy the album is full of complex yet compelling tracks for the dance floor.
