PHOTO EXHIBITION

Alex Vanhee

16 June 2016 – opening

[CHEZ PIAS] is proud to present a second photo exhibition, as a follow up to the acclaimed ‘One Minute After Project’ by Olivier Donnet. The exhibition offers a condensed overview of Alex Vanhee’s portrait work, containing among others pictures of Nick Cave, An Pierlé, dEUS, Arno, Editors, Kristin Hersh, Moby, Melanie De Biasio and Daan.

Alex Vanhee (1965) is the go to music photographer for national daily De Morgen, and freelances for a host of local and international publications. He has contributed to album artwork (Chris Whitley, Iggy Pop, Willem Vermandere, Bram Vermeulen, Laïs and Monza), and is the official photographer for classic ensemble Anima Eterna. Alex has shown his work at Bozar Brussels, FoMu Antwerp and various Belgian concert venues.

In the 2004 book ‘Heroes’ he combined portraits of artists with stories about their musical heroes and inspirations. For the 2010 follow up ‘Face 2 Face’ he collaborated with journalist Bart Steenhaut, his long-time partner in crime at De Morgen.

[CHEZ PIAS] is open weekdays (free entry 9:00 - 17:30) and also offers a well-stocked record shop, concert venue and the Humphrey restaurant.

The opening of Alex Vanhee’s photo exhibition will be on June 16th at 19:00.

Tony Visconti confirms that new David Bowie-material will be released

05th of June 2016, 20:07

David Bowie fans can be expected to hear unreleased music from the late rock star in "the next few years," according to Tony Visconti.

Speaking to the Evening Standard , the music producer revealed: “I think it’s logical that over the next few years, you’re going to hear a lot of stuff that you haven’t heard before."

He added: "I’m in talks with his management and his label — there’s going to be some great Bowie stuff coming out.”

David Bowie passed away on Sunday 10 January 2016, after losing his private battle with cancer.

Just two days before, the British icon released his Blackstar album on his 69th birthday, which Visconti described as a "parting gift to his fans".

Cherry Red releases box with 60 tracks by The Cramps

03rd of June 2016, 12:07

Cherry Red releases a hiuge compilation by The Cramps featuring 60 tracks.

• A wildcat howl of 61 tunes as spun by Lux Interior on his radio shows or lurking within his and Poison Ivy’s crazy collection

• From cool instrumentals and rockabilly weirdness through to the wild, the incensed and the insensitive. New trance crazes, devil worship, all the usual stuff with screams and hollering as needed

• For the esoteric-minded and the exotica-consumed, with added jungle noises, death-defying car chases, teen torment and a host of dazed and confused lunatics in tow

• Rampant with scuzzy garage riffs, overflowing with deranged plans for the betterment of the mundane

• Spoken in post War parlez, punctuated with irate ideas and parent-bashing conceptualism

• Remastered from the original sound sources with sleevenotes by MOJO magazine’s Dave Henderson

Alan Wise, the legendary Manchester music mogul Alan Wise dies aged 62

Alan, a key figure in the birth of The Haçienda and Factory Records, launched a scathing attack on mental health bosses after his daughter’s death, just hours after she celebrated her 22nd birthday.

Alan’s former colleagues and well-known faces in the Manchester music scene paid tribute after hearing about his death.

Alan was a popular figure in the Manchester music scene in the 1980s, promoting and managing a number of acts, including Nico.

Friends say he ‘never recovered’ from Natasha’s death and ‘died of a broken heart’.

The exact cause of his death is not yet known.

Former Joy Division and New Order bass player Peter Hook tweeted: “Rest in Peace Alan Wise - God now has a great promoter!

23 tracks by Martin Bowes for free

03rd of June 2016, 11:10

A free to download 23 track selection of just some of the music from all over the world that

Martin Bowes has produced, remixed or mastered at the Cage Studios during our 23rd year: 2015 - 2016.

Including alternate mixes and recordings remastered specially for this release...

Listen and download at the link below.

Album compiled and remastered by Martin Bowes at the Cage Studios. 2016.

The Cage studios was founded in 1993 as a vehicle for me to produce Martin's own music. Originally used primarily for Attrition works and a few select remix, production and mastering projects, he opened the Cage doors to the world in 2011 and since then have been working with so many inspiring bands and labels in genres as diverse as dark ambient, post punk, noise, folk, industrial, drum n bass, house, neo-classical, rockabilly, punk and metal...

This new collection showcases just some of those artists and his work with them...

The Cage is set in the heart of England: but working with the speed of fibre optic file transfers it really could be anywhere at all.
