Just in time for valeot records 5th anniversary, co-founder and label head alexandr vatagin presents his third solo album "serza". in combining the analogue and tender atmosphere of "valeot" (2006) with the harsh, yet subtle digital electronics of "shards" (2008), "serza" is attesting to a consequent and traceable development towards maturity in sound and structure. featuring a huge spectrum of common as well as unusual instruments, it takes you on a thirty minute trip full of delicate melodies, pushing drums, gentle noise, swirling celli, warm vibraphone chimes and sweet piano tunes.
The album features friends from all over the world including martin siewert (radian, trapist), hideki umezawa (pawn), james yates (epic 45, pattern theory), fabian pollack, giulio aldinucci, all tupolev members and patrick pulsinger, who provided several self-recorded synth samples.
Serza is presented live either by alexandr vatagin (cello, synth, laptop) solo or as a trio: alexandr vatagin (bass, nordlead, laptop), martin siewert (guitar, devices) and david schweighart (drums).
Born in ukraine in the early 80's, vatagin moved to austria in the beginning of the 90's, and only started to make music another decade later. he plays in tupolev and port-royal and founded the project quarz, which recently released its first album on cronica. he has collaborated with b. fleischmann, stefan nemeth (lokai), steven hess (pan american), philippe petit (strings of consciousness), bernhard breuer (elektro guzzi, metalycee), alexander schubert, kutin (dirac), nicolas bernier and many others and played concerts all over western, central and eastern europe. his solo works and works he was involved in were released on valeot records, morr music, cronica, n5md, mikroton, moozak and many more.
"Seam", Adaya Godlevsky's debut release on Interval Recordings, marks yet another challenging release of the label's ongoing musical output. Along its 13 chapters, Godlevsky uses her Celtic harp and voice to gently constitute seams; seams as boarder lines between strumming and scratching a string, between tapping the sound box and an arpeggio flow, between a classically notated composition and improvised music derived from a graphic score.
The seam is always and already the boarder line, presence in this release as a result of Godlevsky's different artistic practices; performance, composition, playing and singing.
Dark, threatening, industrial from Norway, carrying traces of artists like NON, early Laibach, and SPK, you will never really know what to expect from one track to the next.
"Porcus Norvegicus" ranges through a full spectrum of menace. From subtle and disconcerting to sledge hammer heavy, to homicidally disturbed, Blitzkrieg Baby is taking trophies, not prisoners. Concentrating more on visceral feeling than driving within the lines of any one genre, the music comes from a place of turmoil and suffering - with a wry, twisted smile never far away. Blitzkrieg Baby’s music is depraved, debased, stylised, brutal, and merciless. Digisleeve.
In 2003 Michele Piccolo, founder of gothic-rock bands as BURNING GATES and SISTERS ZAUS, and Riccardo Perugini joined forces with ex members of WASTELAND and other wellknown bands from Turin. After the success of their 2004 debut album “Untold Passions” (Strobelight Records) and their extensive touring in Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria with artists such as Ikon, The House Of Usher, Diva Destruction, Frankenstein and Sex Gang Children, the band immediately returned to the studio to record the new album.
The result is an album with 12 unique tracks representing the whole Ordeal By Fire universe including gothic-rock numbers like ‘Changing Of The Wind’ or ‘Killing Hate’, romantic tunes like the unforgettable ‘Flight Full Of Hate’ or ‘Mistaken Child’, as well as a cover-version of ‘Give Me It’ (by The Cure).
