Tonight! Dark Entries Night @ Kinky Star with Dead Man's Hill & Causenation!
The Kinky Star in Ghent and gothzine Dark Entries regularly organize the Dark Entries Nights, free performances by bands from the local wave and electro scene. This evening is the 23rd edition and there’s dark ambient and EBM on the programme.
Dead Man's Hill is a cult in Poland and Russia. Bart Piette's project started in 1998 as dark ambient and martial but gradually became more symphonic. Since 2013, Els also plays in the band. They will not only bring songs from their extensive repertoire but also new songs.
Causenation started in 2015. Initially, they wanted to make music in the Belgian EBM tradition but gradually they took a more dark turn. It is the first time the group will perform since they became a trio consisting of Vain Sancrosanct, 0.77 and Talking Jazz.
The performances will take place on Friday 29th June at The Kinky Star, Vlasmarkt 9 in Ghent. Entrance is free. Afterwards an after-party takes place with DJ Drexl

Seminal British alternative rock outfit, Shriekback, will release their new album ‘Why Anything? Why This?’ on 25th May.
This 14th studio album, which boasts a wide, organic and detailed sound, is already being described by early listeners as their best since the landmark album ‘Oil & Gold’.
However you describe it, this is Shriekback refocused, reinvented and reinvigorated.
About Shriekback :
Shriekback was formed in 1980 by ex-XTC keyboardist Barry Andrews and bassist Dave Allen on his departure from Gang Of Four, in collaboration with guitarist Carl Marsh from Out On Blue Six.
In 1982 they released their first full-length album ‘Care’ and eventually achieving wider recognition with the singles ‘Lined Up’ and ‘My Spine (Is The Bassline)’. In 1983, they were joined by drummer Martyn Barker (King Swamp, Billy Bragg).
A move to a major label, Arista, allowed the band to fully realise their sound on ‘Oil & Gold’(1985), a milestone album that remains the band’s best-known (helped by the success of the single ‘Nemesis’) and the foundation of their popularity on the US college circuit and elsewhere.
New collaborator Scott Firth (of P.i.L) adds irrefutable bass to selected tracks, while Shriekback regulars Wendy and Sarah Partridge contribute their ever-invaluable backing vocals.

After BodyBeats released their first BIMFEST name last month, Swedish Minimal/Wave/Electro revelation AGENT SIDE GRINDER, they announced their second name today. Another Swedish artist but not the least! COVENANT!
Covenant's 9th studio album, 'The Blinding Dark', was released in November 2016 and showed a remarkable development in style, something that Covenant definitely wanted to do with this album and not least because of the subject that they dealt with on this album. With this release, this Swedish / German outfit has probably released their artistically most ambitious album so far. As many music lovers and critics agreed, this album was perhaps also their most obscure and moody album since their first two albums Dreams Of A Cryotank (1994) and Sequencer (1996).
After their successful 'The Blinding Dark Tour’ passage in 2017, it was more than logical BodyBeats asked Covenant if they would be up for the idea of presenting their first two vintage gem albums to the BIMFEST audience. Being great admirers and supporters of BIMFEST frontman, Eskil Simonsson, and his companions immediately agreed and started working on it. Of course, besides these lovely vintage songs, they will also play some of their most famous clubsongs to please their fans!

Het was dan ook een logisch gevolg dat BodyBeats, na de succesvolle The Blinding Dark Tour passage in 2017, Covenant vroeg om die vintage pareltjes van hun eerste twee albums eens te komen presenteren aan het BIMFEST publiek. Als grote bewonderaars van BIMFEST gingen frontman Eskil Simonsson en zijn kompanen meteen akkoord en aan het werk. Natuurlijk zullen zij naast deze vintage songs ook hun meest bekende hits spelen voor hun fans.
