Blackest Ever Black is pleased to present the mind-shattering double LP of dysphoric space-rock minimalism from two luminaries of the Swedish punk underground. It is out this week physically and digitally!
Second Launch follows Bremen’s self-titled debut of 2013 and comprises 11 controlled improvisations, reinforced with overdubs, that take clear inspiration from the dark side of kraut and progressive rock, early electronic and drone music, whilst also owing something to the fathomlessly bleak interior landscapes conjured by Nico/Cale on The Marble Index and Desertshore.
The complex dialogue between Lanchy Orre’s guitar and Jonas Tiljander’s organ, by turns pensive and combative, bound up with their mastery of reverb and feedback, is the focal point of the record; supplemented with drums and sparingly deployed analogue synthesizer tones to evoke nothing less than the vast emptiness of outer space and the obliteration of all meaning and identity in the face of it.
From the full-throttle motorik and bonehead repetitions of ‘Sweepers’ and ‘Entering Phase Two’ (echoes of Tiljander and Orre’s previous work in Brainbombs) to the deep astral psychedelia of ‘Static Interferences’, via the mournful Northern European ambience of ‘Walking The Skies’, the rolling thunder of ‘They Were Drifting’ and the poignant, stargazing blues of ‘Hollow Wave’, Second Launch charts impossible gradients in its search for answers to the oldest questions of all.

Synopsis:

The Belgian label Remain In Light does everything they can to show the world that there’s more around then just Hollywood !
As Ginger & Rosa was brutally neglected, they give it another chance on the silver screen. From 16th July on you can see the movie again in Studio Skoop, a cosy filmtheatre in the centre of Ghent. Peek-A-Boo says: do it!

Gelukkig zijn er nog gepassioneerde cinefielen die een cinemazaal uitbaten, zoals Walter van Studio Skoop. Vanaf 16 juli zal deze Gentse bioscoop een platform bieden aan dit pareltje dat de Belgische zalen nog niet haalde.
Londen, de vroege jaren 60. Levenslange hartsvriendinnen Ginger en Rosa worden volwassen tegen de achtergrond van de seksuele revolutie en de steeds concreter wordende dreiging van een nucleaire oorlog. Terwijl Rosa zich het hoofd op hol laat brengen door jongens, verdiept de gevoelige Ginger zich in de groeiende protestbeweging. Haar politieke zorgen slaan echter om in een existentiële angst en Rosa heeft inmiddels meer oog voor Gingers interessante maar egocentrische vader dan voor haar vriendin.
De jonge sterren in wording Elle Fanning (Somewhere) en Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures) zijn het sprankelende middelpunt van Ginger & Rosa van Sally Potter (Orlando, The Man Who Cried, The Tango Lesson). Sfeervolle beelden en een jazzy soundtrack ondersteunen Potters coming-of-age-verhaal over een tijdperk waarin kinderen veel te vroeg volwassen werden. Written and recorded in part in Montmartre by Courteeners talismanic singer/songwriter Liam Fray last autumn, Concrete Love is the band’s most rounded and satisfying record to date - its release coincides perfectly with a moment when they reach the peak of their live powers. The album sees the band working again with regular collaborator/producer Joe Cross (Hurts/Chloe Howl).
In the six years since they released their sharp and underrated debut St Jude – a pinpoint accurate portrayal of young life– the band have risen steadily with a quiet confidence. Each of their albums has gone Top 10 - St. Jude (no.4), Falcon (no.6), ANNA (no.6) - and the growth in their live shows has been exponential and astonishing. In 2013, Courteeners quickly sold over 100,000 gig tickets outside of festival appearances in the UK – including Brixton Academy and Manchester Arena. In August, the band play as special guests of the Killers at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow before headlining the NME stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals. They then tour the UK extensively in the autumn.

I-tunes pre-orders will immediately receive the exclusive album track Summer – as perfect a piece of sunshine pop as you’re likely to hear this season. Deluxe editions of the album come with either a DVD (physical copies) or download (i-tunes) recorded at the band’s momentous Castlefield Bowl gigs in July 2013, where, over two nights the band played to sold-out crowds of 16,000 people. The first single proper from the album will be released next month.
