New York City is a world of shadows, thieves and con men, its chilling concrete landscapes are a fitting filmic backdrop for the aural futuristic pleasures of NOIR, a band whose deep electronic rhythms fuel darkened beats that conjure stark cinematic images from yesteryear merged with the cold machinery of the future. Conceptualized by vocalist Athan Maroulis, veteran of the pioneering electronic industrial act Spahn Ranch, NOIR is a sensuous electronic return to form for Maroulis, who also fronts dark cabaret legends Black Tape For a Blue Girl.
The result was the 2013 critically acclaimed release Darkly Near, an album that Side Line Music Magazine said, "probably stands for the most intimate electro project Athan Maroulis has ever been involved with. It all sounds like revealing his deepest inner thoughts transposed into electronic grace, musical poetry and simply finesse." While FEARnet stated that Darkly Near "moves NOIR to the front of the dark electro-pop pack, with a mature refinement that places the band in a class by itself." NOIR's latest release RE:MIT:TENT offers 20 remixes of songs from Darkly Near featuring a disparaging list of names from all over the electronic music field including ManMadeMan, Assemblage 23, Dead Voices On Air, Ludovico Technique, Decoded Feedback and many others.

HOT GUTS Wilds LP
The second full-length from Philadelphia based post-industrial group. What started off as a raw and gritty post-punk band in 2007 eventually evolved into a more refined foray into territories that cross between the electronic and organic, as well as the harsh and beautiful.
Currently a duo, Wes Russell's signature rich baritone and unorthodox guitar stylings (at times more reminiscent of construction machinery than a guitar) are still very present while counterpart Shari Wallin (also of Void Vision) provides the synths and drum machines as well as backing vocals.
Within this web of minimal electronics there are hints of EBM, neofolk, tribal industrial but there is an element of experimentalism that has always been present in Hot Guts that keeps things sounding fresh, and strangely contemporary throughout the recordings.

LOST TRIBE Solace LP
Richmond, VA goth peace-punk combo is back after their huge 2011 s/t debut LP on Blind Prophet.
Once again their sound is an epic odyssey through the graveyard dimension of punk, drawing inspiration from early crust, 80s California deathrock, UK anarchopunk, and the more tribal side of postpunk bands like Killing Joke.
Solace combines piercing bass lines with earthquake-like drumming, strong vocals, darkly atmospheric synths, and razor-like guitars to weave a spell of death, lamentation, destruction, and disease over the listener.

After Only God Forgives (in competition at Cannes Film Festival 2013), Gaumont and Wild Bunch team up again to co-finance and co-distribute the next film by Nicolas Winding Refn.
The Neon Demon reveals a horror tale with a young female driven cast, written by NWR and Mary Laws.
About the origin of the movie, Refn said, “One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making DRIVE and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of THE NEON DEMON.”
Refn’s partner, Lene Borglum (Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives) will be producing under their joint company, Space Rocket.
Principal photography is set to begin in the first quarter of 2015 and will be filmed in Los Angeles, CA. The cast will be announced later this year. Refn’s regular collaborators, editor Matthew Newman (Bronson, Drive, Only God Forgives) and composter Cliff Martinez (Drive, Only God Forgives) will be joined by director of photography, Philippe Le Sourd (The Grand Master) on the production of NWR’s film.
Gaumont and Wild Bunch will be selling the movie at the upcoming AFM for a 2016 release.

After early discussions to play the Apple founder, Christian Bale has decided to part ways with the Steve Jobs biopic at Sony.
While negotiations were never fully under way, sources tell Variety that Bale had talks with director Danny Boyle about taking on the role, but a deal never came to fruition. The news comes almost two weeks after the biopic’s screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin, told Bloomberg that Bale was a lock for the part of Jobs. ““We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” he said. “It’s an extremely difficult part and he’s gonna crush it.”
Sony will now look to find its replacement after Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio both passed on the part. The studio is in discussions with Seth Rogen to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
