Final Days feels like a full realization of the project, it's everything Cult of Youth has been moving towards for the past seven years — post-industrial, post-punk, and post-enlightenment.

Sean Ragon has been active in the DIY punk, industrial and experimental music communities on the east coast for over 15 years while also running a record store and label in Brooklyn (Heaven Street and Blind Prophet Records, respectively). He has been recording under the moniker of Cult of Youth for the last seven years. 

Ragon, once the project’s lone member, is now flanked by Jasper McGandy on bass and Christian Kount on electric guitar (both of whom were members of seminal Sacred Bones band The Hunt). Cory Flannigan on drums and Paige Flash on cello complete the five-piece. The end result is Cult of Youth as they were always meant to sound.

1984 was a pivotal year for A Split-Second. Originally a new wave high-school band playing covers and a few own compositions, the first line-up disbanded as composer, singer and bass player Marc Ickx went more electronic with a primitive sequencer and drum computer.Without previous studio experience, he started recording “STAINED IMPRESSIONS”, a demo tape recorded in single takes with cassette-to-cassette overdubs.

In between recordings he met with Chrismar Chayell, an old classmate who had a small multi-track recording studio. Chayell had already recorded among others the full length TWILIGHT RITUAL album “The Ritual”, and offered to produce and record five of the songs at his studio. The first five songs on “STAINED IMPRESSIONS” were recorded there. Chayell also arranged and played a keybord part on “TEARGAS AND CHAMPAGNE”, marking the beginning of what was to come for A Split-Second.

The songs also mark a transition, songs like “HUNGER” and “NEUROBEAT” were written by Ickx for the previous line-up, of which “NEUROBEAT” was the only song to make it to the debut album “BALLISTIC STATUES”. From the other songs, parts of titles and lyrics were picked up for later material, and “RESIGNATION” was the blueprint for “RIGOR MORTIS”. Most of the other songs are largely improvised in a search for the new direction Ickx’ songwriting was heading for.

Largely raw and primitive, “STAINED IMPRESSIONS” provides an interesting look into the genesis of one of the most influential alternative electronic bands of the 80’s, and the variety and experimentation that marked this era.

Morrissey has cancelled dates in Greece and Turkey, the latest gigs on his European tour to meet a similar fate. 

It is reported that Morrissey's gigs in Athens last night (December 5) did not go ahead as planned with local publication The Times Of Change stating that the singer missed a flight from London to Athens ahead of his gig at the Tae Kwon Do Arena.

Morrissey's subsequent gig at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul on December 7 will also be postponed due to logistical issues. 

The singer's current European tour has been met with numerous setbacks, including an incident in which a gig in Germany had to be ended shortly after a stage invasion. This represented the second time Morrissey cut short a gig on the tour, having departed the stage mid-show after being heckled by a fan in Poland.

He also cancelled a number of European tour dates due to a "flu outbreak" amongst his crew earlier in the year. This came after a string of US dates were scrappedrevealing that he had been treated for cancer.
