Unknown pleasures: Then Comes Silence

11th of December 2012, 16:53

Silence breeds terror. Ever get the feeling you’re being watched? That someone ‘else’ is in the room? Things moving? Door’s creaking? Noises without a source? Perhaps a sudden creeping chill thru the room? Sharp odors? A rank smell?

As humans, we have been carrying the culture of fear and horror since ancient times. In folklore and stories. A trip through desolated grounds or a night in the woods can easily bring those ancient premonitions back to life. Our comfortable modern lifestyle makes us isolated and afraid of death. It makes us avoid the things that remind us of it. A fear of the unknown. What we cannot see nor understand.

A fascination of death, doom, spiritualism and corruption has gathered the members of
Then Comes Silence, together with a predisposition towards noiserock, goth, shoegaze and psychedelia. The band brings darkness and romantic death via music and sounds, performed on guitars at deafening volume. Cathartic, distorted and effect-laden.

This fall will see the release of their self-titled debut and the unleash of dark forces. The four members of
Then Comes Silence have chosen to remain anonymous. The members see themselves as not important and do not want to interfere with the experience. For more, come see the live performance.
However they have already made a name for themselves and have been compared to fellow swedes Silverbullit and on their first gig ever they had the honor to open for
A Place To Bury Strangers (on APTBS request). You will definitely here more about Then Comes Silence.

New video by Baden Baden

11th of December 2012, 11:26

The new video for Evidemment was shot in November off the Normandy coast by Norwegian photographer and film maker Frode Fjerdingstad, who is behind Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar,We are Serenades or Shout Out Louds videos and Swedish photographerCarl Von Arbin (album cover photo), who is also a graphic designer and guitarist forShout Out Louds.

The video was shot onboard the « Aztec Lady » : after sailing all over the world under a British flag she was then sold to a Dutch ship-owner and led a life also exciting…. in narcotic deal ! In English, ’Aztec Lady’ is a magic trick that consists in making magicians’ assistants disappear. A sign, maybe? The ship was finally seized by French customs and is now the property of Capitaine Pierre Lehuby. She accompaniedBADEN BADEN off the Chausey islands for a day and a song.

A pleasant way to dive once again in Baden Baden’s pop universe

Electric Voice announces compilation featuring Tropic of Cancer, Genesis P-Orridge, Martial Canterel and more

10th of December 2012, 16:14

On this deluxe compilation, Electric Voice Records offers yet another exploration of historical and contemporary underground music. Whereas last year’s Electric Voice V/A release focused on alternative approaches to electronic pop music, this new album mines a darker spectrum of genres, one that spans more than three decades of minimalist synth and industrial work. Here, new generation artists like Tropic of Cancer and Martial Canterel (Xeno & Oaklander) are seen to extend rather than revive the music of their influences. Electric Voice II marries these young artists with pioneers from the beginning days of this music, truly groundbreaking acts like Ike Yard, the first America band to sign with Factory Records, and Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV’s enigmatic Genesis P-Orridge, now performing some of her most poignant material to date as Thee Majesty. Other featured artists include Das Ding and French group Martin Dupont, who both offer cuts from their respective early 80’s archives. There are also exclusive tracks by ADN’ Ckrystall, Frank (Just Frank), Vita Noctis, and Nine Circles. Taken together, the seamless flow of these tracks, despite the span of generations, makes clear the continued relevance of these practices and pure electronic sounds. To celebrate this collection, acclaimed artist Juan Mendez (Silent Servant) provides cover artwork, with additional design by Dmytrij Wulffius. Brandon Hocura at Polyphasic Studios offers the meticulous final master.

Electric Voice II is scheduled for release in both a digital format and as an edition of 500 LPs on April 1/2013.

IAMX
IAMX feels quite delicate to me. It needs understanding and effort to really see the bigger picture. The live show can do that, it can convince people, but from my internal feeling, it can be uncomfortable.

I am often a little frustrated by the complexity of my music, which in turn motivates me to keep composing, hoping that one day I will write a simple song.
