Andrew V. McLaglen , a specialist with the sagebrush who directed John Wayne in four films and helmed scores of episodes of the classic CBS Western series Gunsmoke , Have Gun — Will Travel, and Rawhide , has died. He was 94.
The Journal of the San Juan Islands reported McLaglen, whose father was the Oscar-winning British actor Victor McLaglen , died Saturday at his Friday Harbor home in the San Juan Islands of Washington state. According to IMDb, from 1956 through 1965 McLaglen directed 96 episodes of the legendary series Gunsmoke, and guided 116 installments that spanned the entire run of the popular Have Gun — Will Travel. That show aired from 1957-63, and starred Richard Boone as a gentleman gunfighter named Paladin.
To celebrate thirty years, KMFDM set off on a pair of tours in 2013. Minuit Machine, a synth wave band based in Paris, is the association of Hélène de Thoury’s electronic melodies and Amandine Stioui’s vocals.
The project was born in Hélène's mind in June 2013 during a tour with Phosphor, her former band. In September this same year, she met Amandine and fell in love with her voice. Together, they released their first EP called "Blue Moon" in October 2013. The sound of the French duo, based on powerful electronic drums and the accumulation of dark synth lines, is a mix between all their inspirations that range from minimal wave to electronic rock.
Their debut album "Live & Destroy" will be released by established french label desire in the Fall of 2014 and will be followed by an european tour.
It talks about life, love, self-destruction and fear, all the struggles we encounter one day or another, all the doubts and darkness that can sometimes bring us down. And the idea that our worst enemy could be our own mind.
Two Canadian synthpop legends have teamed up to record a cover of AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' on limited 7" vinyl through Artoffact Records.
Rational Youth, most famous for their best-selling 1982 album Cold War Night Life, recently reunited for shows in Canada, Sweden, and Norway, as well as an upcoming tour in Germany and Poland. Psyche, fronted by Canadian Darrin Huss and now based in Germany have been releasing classic synthpop records for 30 years. Psyche has released 11 studio albums and many other live, remix, and rarities collections on labels such as Artoffact, SPV, Metropolis, and New Rose.
The two artists have collaborated in the past, most recently touring together in Sweden, where they played Thunderstruck as part of their encore. The artists decided to record the cover, and it will be released on November 25th on three different 7" vinyl colours. The vinyl colours are even named to reflect the lyrics of the AC/DC hit: Shot-glass clear, Can I come again please? white, and Texas cheeseburger cheese orange.
The record comes in a 3mm spined-sleeve and is a design replica of the original 1990 Australian-issue sleeve for AC/DC's own Thunderstruck 7" (released on Albert Productions).
