Heimataerde with new album on Out Of Line

05th of August 2014, 20:12

The dark brotherhood embarks into the cold. The Medieval-Electro-pioneers open up a new chapter of their saga, driving the listener on a journey into the eternal frost on a unique foundation of synthetic beats and deep sequencers, garnished with medieval instruments, walls of guitars and choral chants.

The new chapter in the fantastic journey of Ashlar von Megalon and his fearless friars seamlessly continues the story of the previous album releases of Heimataerde. On “Kaltwaerts” (= into the cold), the dark antagonist Zebaoth has captured friar Andreas and is now setting out to bring fear and horror unto the world. The brotherhood wants to stop this evil force at all costs and embarks into the cold to destroy the demon once and for all times and to rescue the friar. In this, Heimataerde manage to shake the floor yet again with a unique mix of club-compatible Electro-sounds and medieval atmosphere, while captivating the listener with an epic and moving story, at the same time.

The mix of modern sounds, fantasy and long past eras has turned out even bigger, more powerful and fascinating, this time around. And for all those who wish to delve even deeper into the saga of “Kaltwaerts”, the new Heimataerde-album is not only released as a music-CD , but also as a deluxe double disc version in a lavish double-Digipak which contains a bonus audiobook retelling of the story (German-language.) The album will also be released as a fan set, strictly limited to 250 copies, world-wide, in a classy black wooden box, containing the deluxe double CD, as well as a metal Heimataerde-signet pendant on a leather necklace, a special rosary, watercolor painted postcards of all band members, a numbered ownership certificate and a Heimataerde-flag as exclusive content. Become a part of the brotherhood! Follow us into the cold! The place where we are going will never see summer.

Information Society back with brand new album

05th of August 2014, 20:10

The first album of new material from the classic lineup of Information Society (Kurt, Paul and James) in over 20 years. After playing some festival dates in Summer, 2013 the band began to discuss working on a new album and the result, _hello world is the offspring. _hello world is rife with songs that have one foot firmly planted in their past and one foot confidently resting in the present; it is filled with classic INSOC dance floor fodder like "Get Back", soaring epics like "Jonestown", and cinematic textures like "Creatures of Light and Darkness". Embracing the many faces of synthetic music while remaining organically Information Society, _hello world isn't as much a rebirth of INSOC as it is a nuclear-powered version that ups the ante. The first single, "Land of the Blind," is a swirling, propulsive track that hearkens back to their signature sound yet infuses it with state of the art production values. Longtime InSoc hero Gerald V. Casale adds his vocals in a duet with Kurt on their cover of "Beautiful World" which adds a modern splash to the Devo classic.

The group stormed the club charts in the mid '80s with their Freestyle classic "Running". Inspired by the worldwide response to the single, the group seized the opportunity and moved to New York to record their major label debut, Information Society, for Tommy Boy/Reprise. Producer Fred Maher was brought in, fresh from his work on Kraftwerk's Electric Cafe album, and helped Robb & co. craft a tight pop sound. Initial buzz for the first single "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" was intense, and proved to be accurate; by the time the group got to its first in-store appearance, two days after the record's release, the album was sold out. 2014 is proving to be quite a year for the band. With history's tendency to repeat itself, it appears INSOC are poised for another takeover. _Hello World, indeed.

Ricky Gervais is giving his most famous TV creation in the U.K. a feature film.

In an announcement made Tuesday, it was revealed that David Brent, the manager from the original version of The Office and the inspiration for Steve Carell's Michael Scott in the U.S. remake, will be getting his own spinoff feature, backed by BBC Films and set to go into production in the U.K. next year.

Life on the Road will catch up with Brent over a decade after The Office ended in December 2003 following two hugely successful six-part series and a concluding two-part Christmas special. It hasn't yet been announced whether the film will be getting a theatrical release or will be made purely for TV.

Literature share 'New Jacket', taken from new album 'Chorus'

05th of August 2014, 12:19

Philadelphia's cult indie favourites Literature have shared 'New Jacket', another slice of master-crafted indiepop from their upcoming album, Chorus.

Literature features Kevin Attics, Nathaniel Cardaci, Chris Schackerman, and Seth Whaland. Attics, who’d written for numerous music trades as a teen, met Cardaci and Whaland at the house venue they both operated in Austin, TX. Cardaci and Whaland each ran small imprint labels and, a million adventures later, the trio decided to form a band. Upon moving to Philadelphia the group befriended Schackerman who also joined the fold.

In 2012, following a well-received single and a track on Gerard Cosloy’s “Casual Victim Pile II” compilation they released their debut album, Arab Spring, which became a cult hit within the indiepop community. That album is sharp and immediate, almost mod-ish in its attack, but always tuneful and going for melody where it counts. They toured the US in support, and have performed with the likes of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Eternal Summers, Ted Leo, Sic Alps, White Fence, Gentlemen Jesse, Hospitality, and Brown Recluse. They also appeared on Terre T's Cherry Blossom Clinic.

In 2013 they released a follow-up 7”, “Tie Dye” and contributed a track to Esopus Magazine alongside artists like Jens Lekman and The Shins. They also played at that year’s NYC Popfest, which helped cement the buzz that was steadily growing amongst savvy pop fans. Arab Spring was treated to a re-mastered re-press, which followed the first pressing and quickly sold out.

Autumn of 2013 saw the band begin work on their second album, Chorus, with lauded engineer Gary Olson (whose body of work includes records by Crystal Stilts, Mad Scene and The Beets) at his Marlborough Farms studio in Brooklyn, NY. As a beautiful autumn turned into one of the harshest winters in recent memory, Olson and the band began stretching out, enhancing the album with studio techniques dating back to the late 60s including true-tape flanging, sending vocals through Leslie speaker cabinets, and the same analog style of automatic double-tracking created at Abbey Road Studios.

The result is an album that is as immediate as it is timeless, full of effortlessly catchy and well-crafted tunes that echo pop legends like The Smiths and Orange Juice. All of that time in the studio has resulted in a rich, considered sound that puts the band's arranging and playing front and center. Chorus is one of the most exciting pop records in years, and marks Literature at true contenders.
