THE Mexican pioneers of harder electronic music culture return with an impressive, new single. No matter whether you do believe the pessimistic interpretations of the Mayan calendar as to an impending end of the world or not… it is doubtless that few other bands could deliver a more fitting soundtrack for our apocalyptic, crisis-infused times than Hocico.
With their new single “Vile Whispers”, Erk Aicrag and Racso Agroyam go back to their very roots: dirty beats, straight thudding sequencers, ultra-aggressive shouts and intriguing sonic experiments merge to become an electronic outcry of rage that blasts away anything that stands in its way. The Mexicans reduce their sound to its core essence to maximize the impact of their dance floor compatible outburst. Erk makes the track explode like an wrathful demigod while Racso plays with sounds that create a club-assault from psychotic horror visions, captivating melodies and a healthy amount of sub-bass-oomph!
The exclusive B-side “It Doesn’t Exist” also doesn’t fall short in regard to club compatibility and showcases a more playful side of Hocico that marries brutal sonic violence with minimalist melodies. Erk and Racso also infuse the title track with the trademark sounds of their respective solo projects in two searing remixes, one sporting the Electroclash-approach of Rabia Sorda and the other the hard Industrial of Dulce Liquido. The most important voice of Harsh Electro has created another milestone that other will have to be measured against. The band’s “Vile Whispers” are anything but soft – the inferno commences and Hocico are setting it off! The perfect appetizer for the soon to be released new album!
