We have just heard about the passing of Jim Marshall. Jim’s ascent into the history books as ‘the Father of Loud’ and the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock’ is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born.
From 1960, Marshall owned a moderately successful music store in Hanwell selling drums and then branching out into guitars. His many guitar playing customers (including Ritchie Blackmore, Jim Sullivan and Pete Townshend) spoke of the need for a particular kind of amplifier and Marshall saw the opportunity. He recruited an 18-year-old electronics apprentice, Dudley Craven, who was previously working for EMI and, with his help, began producing prototype amplifiers, resulting in the foundation of Marshall Amplification, in 1962. The beginning of a true legend.
Rest in Peace, Jim.

Francis John (Frank) Tovey, also known by his stage name as Fad Gadget, was born on 8th September 1956 and died on 3rd April 2002. Tovey suffered from heart problems since his childhood, and died of a heart attack at the age of 45. A British avant-garde electronic musician and vocalist, he was a proponent of both New Wave and early Industrial music. Let's all play a Fad Gadget song really loud today!
The fabulous Maschinenfest just released the first names and it's going to be another legendary festival! A few Belgian bands will also be playing there, old school industrialists of Militia, the breakcore reggae nutcases of Hysteresis and not to forget, rhythmic industrial act Sonar! Add to this the provocative noise of CON-DOM, Ant-zen legend Winterkälte and drum 'n noise artist Enduser, you will need some powerful vitamins to get through the weekend! Underneath is the (so far) complete list.
Henke & Coma Divine will do a short German tour in the next week.
A perfect chance to see the marvelous Sonja Kraushofer & Oswald Henke live.
Hopefully they'll play their great cover of David Bowie's Heroes (Helden).
