The return of Sutcliffe Jugend

11th of October 2011, 18:34

Harsh extreme electronic pioneers Sutcliffe Jugend return with an album of all new material. Three years in the making, and with numerous reworkings, "With Extreme Prejudice" finds Sutcliffe Jugend at the top of their game. Forcing the listener to question their own prejudices and taboos, as modern man struggles to confront and control his inner demons.
Musically and lyrically this is SJ's most varied album to date, ranging from harsh electronic onslaughts to a new kind of musical oblivion. Production and sound values are closer to industrial music than ever before, creating a very different feel to their previous filthwork "Pigdaddy".

Out on Cold Spring

New album by Machinefabriek out on Cold Spring

11th of October 2011, 18:31

Sublime drone music and field recordings by Rutger Zuydervelt. 'Slovensko I & II' are best seen as a travel diary, recorded in Slovakia. RZ made 'sound snapshots' with a small digital recorder. A major influence both while recording and assembling the tracks was Chinese sound artist Yan Jun. 'Rusland' is a sound collage comprising field recordings and sections of live performances made in Russia. An incredible adventure and culture shock with long train journeys, bizarre venues and amazing people.
'The Breaking Water' can be heard as a sonic portrait of Rotterdam's famous Erasmus bridge.
It includes recordings taken from both on and beneath the bridge, along with further sounds from the river that it crosses, the Nieuwe Maas. 'Floor & Radio' is a contrast to the outdoor pieces recorded for the the installation 'Licthung' in Radolfzell, Germany. Contrasted against the outdoor silence was the squeaking floor in the guest house and the distorted signal and static from the radio.

New album by Thirteenth Exile out

11th of October 2011, 12:21

Stockholm based Thirteenth Exile have just recorded the follow up album to their debut "Assorted Chaos and Broken Machinery". The new album "Into Nothing" is a well produced masterpiece with both dark electronics and memorable lyrics.
On the opening track "The Worm" Svegsjö takes his dark rhythms and frenetic strength in vocals at a new level. The track will also be avilable in remixed versions as single release prior to the album [October 26].
On "Life Eraser" the vocals get even more brutal and the frustration becomes real. Play it loud! "My Legacy" follows with a slower beat just to get back on agony level with up-tempo classic "Pain Receiver". Choirs which encourage to scream out the daily rage.
In "A Perfect World" cinematic hypnotized arranged bombastic soundscapes are accomponied with vocals as crying for help.
Thirteenth Exile also pays a tribute to one of their favourites acts; Portishead with the excellent cover version of "Wandering Star". With monolithic details and massive beat - the album "Into Nothing" is nothing but pure electronic love.

Echozone presents Lakobeil

11th of October 2011, 12:16

With their debut album “Strange Encounter” Dirk Lakomy (ex Umbra Et Imago, In My Rosary, producer of Derriere Le Miroir) and Tobias Birkenbeil (DNS, Cytron, composer of movie scores) demonstrate that music influenced by electronic new wave in addition to electroclash, punk and EBM is still able to be great fun in times of a musical sensory overload of the genre without sounding too stale.
Music to dance to (“Amygdata”), song-oriented, hypnotic (“Sebastiane”), sometimes dark-melancholic, with a driving beat (“Crimetime”), but also catchy-trendy (“Cairo”) accompanies the listener throughout the ten album songs. In addition to Tobias Birkenbeil’s charismatic vocals, guest vocalist Stella B. rounds off the singing part which combination in certain songs is reminiscent of the best times of “Derriere Le Miroir” (“That’s All”, “Sleeper”).
The album’s musical range is completed by the last track “Push It To The Max” featuring a symbiosis of dark minimal electro and “A Flock Of Seagulls”.
