This The Klinik box set is not only the most comprehensive anthology of the band's music ever released, it is also an important documentation of a vital piece of history of electronic music. On 8 CDs, it not only contains all album releases from the years 1984-1991, recorded by the classic line up comprised of Dirk Ivens and Marc Verhaeghen, but also all rare and out-of-print tracks, plus a plethora of unreleased studio and live recordings from the same era.
Belgian band The Klinik is one of the few artists that have managed to leave a lasting imprint on an entire scene. Many of today's protagonists would simply not exist in their current form had it not been for the influence of this seminal group. More than three decades ago, Marc Verhaeghen and Dirk Ivens created a completely new sub-genre in electronic music, by consequently combining minimal, cold, dark and raw Industrial-elements to create a sound that was completely unique and had never been achieved in this form before.
Tracks like “Memories”, “Moving Hands” or “Black Leather” are still mandatory spins at Dark-Electro-clubs around the globe and will instantaneously fill any dance floor. With their fresh and new style of music and their enigmatic live shows that see the band members dressed in long black leather coats and wrapped in medical bandages, The Klinik quickly became a cult act in a steadily growing scene. Hissing vocals and minimalist lyrics were accompanied by strange and creative synthesizer sounds, noises, bare bones beats and distorted trumpet which altogether gave the music a fever-dream-like quality. The Klinik were not only mere electronic music, they were a unique experience and a way of life. It is hardly any wonder that many of today's popular acts still quote the group as one of their main influences. The song “Out Of Line” from the album classic “Face To Face” was also inspiration for the name and the creation of the label that is now releasing this very box set.
“The Klinik-Box” contains 8 jam-packed CDs which include all the studio albums the band has released between 1984 and 1991 in the classic line-up of Ivens and Verhaeghen, plus all EPs and all other rare and out-of-print-material from the same era. On top of that, The Klinik have unearthed a myriad of previously unreleased studio and live recordings from the same time period which have also been included. All recordings have been remastered with a lot of loving care by Eric van Wonterghem (Dirk's colleague in Absolute Body Control) under supervision from the band, to let them shine in a previously unheard sound quality. The set is limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies in a lavish book box. This box set is not only a dream come true but also a true affair of the heart for all that were involved in creating it… and an absolute must-own for fans. Getting its start in 1982, Borghesia is an influential electronic rock group created in Ljubljana, Slovenia by members of the alternative theatre group "Theatre FV-112/15". The band, along with fellow Slovenian music collective Laibach, were not only at the forefront of Slovenian alternative music scene, but also on the cutting edge of the burgeoning underground dark electronic scenes. After a period of dormancy from the mid-nineties to 2009, Borghesia began to once again create music. The result of these efforts is And Man Created God.
This new album is a compelling, confrontational work of art; the subject matter of this album touches on the idea that the corrupt, diseased systems of old are just replaced with more of the same. As the band says, "...In the meanwhile a bad system was replaced by a worse one. The rich have been stealing from the poor since the dawn of human race. Today these dimensions have become absurd: capital, money making money, has become a new deity. Money, this new age golden calf. Money. We've all ended up being good consumers. Arrow Video is thrilled to announce the limited edition release of The Complete Dr.Phibes, which will include both The Abominable Dr.Phibes and its sequel Dr Phibes Rises Again. These exclusive sets will be limited to a run of 3000 copies only and include a 100-page collector’s booklet.
“What more could a horror freak desire?” asked Motion Picture Guide of The Abominable Dr. Phibes back in 1971. Arriving on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK on the 9th June, The Abominable Dr.Phibes sees Vincent Price in one of his signature roles, playing the wealthy and mysterious Dr. Phibes, a mad, disfigured genius, who elects to wreak revenge on nine doctors who failed to save his beautiful wife with a murderous campaign inspired by the Ten Plagues of Egypt. Phibes requires an elimination of disbelief more than a suspension of it. Filled with wonderful Art Deco sets, dark humour and a legendary performance by Vincent Price, The Abominable Dr.Phibes and its sequel Dr Phibes Rises Again have since gone on to become classics.
Featuring a bumper crop of fantastic extras, this exclusive set will include Dr. Phibes and the Gentlemen, an all-new discussion with the League of Gentlemen in which they fondly recall these two British horror classics, the featurette Daughter of Phibes in which Victoria Price discusses her father Vincent Price’s career and The Doctor Will See You Now, an interview with Vincent Price’s biographer, David Del Valle.
Alongside this, the Blu-ray extras include two audio commentaries on The Abominable Dr. Phibes, the first with the late director Robert Fuest and the second with Dr. Phibes creator William Goldstein, moderated by his son Damon Goldtsein, curator of the official Phibes website. Dr. Phibes Rises Again includes and an audio commentary with critic and author Tim Lucas.
