bout twelve years ago David Eugene Edwards‘ new band Wovenhand (Woven Hand in the beginning) showed it’s first sign of life with their self-titled debut album. His main band 16 Horsepower was still active at that time, but their three members – David Eugene, as well as Pascal Humbert (bass) and Jean-Yves Tolà (drums) were slowly drifting apart. Yet in the same year they still managed to release „Folklore“ – a blistering album and their studio swansong.
Long since has the former solo-project stepped out of 16 Horsepower’s long shadow. Wovenhand so far released seven albums that made the old fans happy, won new ones and progressed tremendously as a band.
Wovenhand is a band led by dedicated life-musician and lyricist, David Eugene Edwards. Over the last two decades, his prolific work in both Wovenhand and the legendary 16 Horsepower has influenced and inspired a generation of musicians throughout the expansive alternative music world.
Wovenhand cannot be described in traditional terms. Their sound is an organic, weavework of neo-folk, post rock, punk, alt. country, and alternative sounds. All coming together as a vehicle for David's soulful expression and constant spiritual self exploration. Sometimes sad and sorrowed and at other times uplifting, Wovenhand are always unforgettable in spirit and sound. "Refractory Obdurate" is the latest album from Wovenhand. Joining David on this album are longtime percussionist Ordy Garrison, along with musicians Chuck French and Neil Keener (Planes Mistaken For Stars, Git Some).
"Refractory Obdurate" is a moving masterwork that shows Wovenhand exploring louder roots hinted at on prior albums. As they maintain their melodious course, "Good Shepherd", "Field of Hedon", and "Hiss", stomp forth with a newly amplified punk rock heart. While "The Refractory", "Salome", and "Obdurate Obscura" each ascend epically into a multi-layered haze. Ten songs in all, "Refractory Obdurate" plays as a beautifully crafted patchwork that transcends genres and expectation; a true artistic achievement, that only Wovenhand could offer.
Transgressive Records are thrilled to announce the release of Familiars, the highly-anticipated new album from THE ANTLERS, on 16th June (17th in the US via Anti-Records). Their fourth studio album follows 2011’s critically lauded Burst Apart which the Sunday Times described as “some of the most beautiful music in years” and the Independent heradled as “a spine tingling triumph”.
If you’re a fan of The Killing and Borgen, then you better read this as The Legacy is the new series you have to watch. The Dutch paper De Volkskrant even said The Legacy is the NEW Borgen. In homeland Denemark The Legacy gathered 1,7 million viewers and static wise that means it’s better than The Killing and Borgen.
THE LEGACY tells the story of a very special family in where, after the mother’s death, lots of revelations come above.
This series features Trine DYRHOLM and Marie BACH HANSEN, directed by Pernilla AUGUST and created by Maya ILSØE.
You might know Trine DYRHOLM from her role in 'Festen' and 'A Royal Affair'. She also was part of the Jury during this years’ International Filmfestival from Berlin.
Pernilla AUGUST is known as muse from Ingmar Bergman, and of course as Anakin Skywalker’s mother in Star Wars.

ONE SIDED VINYL TASTER FROM FORTHCOMING IKE YARD REMIXES CD COLLECTION
As a taster of forthcoming Ike Yard remixes CD collection, desire is proud to present a very limited one-sided vinyl with a new mastered version of Regis remix of ‘Loss’.
Following his remixes of Raime and Vatican Shadow, and his own ‘In A Syrian Tongue’ EP, Regis returned with a brooding, immaculately swung version of Ike Yard’s ‘Loss’. This is no 21st century techno makeover; Ike Yard’s music requires no such updating. It sounds more like Regis sneaked into the The Ranch in ’82, thrashing out a mix on the desk there and then.
Ike Yard was a product of the New York No Wave scene, but also stood very much apart from it, then as now. Propulsive, paranoid, aggressive electro minimalism, with as much attention paid to the mixing board and effects processors as to vocals, guitar and synth. At once starker and more fully-formed than virtually all other contemporaneous post-punk music. desire's 2012 edition represents the first ever vinyl reissue of this classic, prophetic album.
Ike Yard was originally a quartet comprising Michael Diekmann, Stuart Argabright, Kenneth Compton and Fred Szymanski. The group are active again after a 28 year hiatus, sans Szymanski; their most recent album is 2011's Nord.

In order to re-live such a seminal chapter of prog rock history live on stage for Genesis Revisited, Hackett surrounded himself with a team of exceptional musicians including keyboardist Roger King (Gary Moore, Snoop Dog, Jamelia), Gary O’Toole (Chrissie Hynde, Kylie Minogue) on drums, percussion and vocals, Rob Townsend (Eddie Henderson, Bill Bruford, Django Bates) on sax, flute and percussion, Lee Pomeroy (Rick Wakeman, Take That) on bass, and Nad Sylvan (Abbas’s Michael B Tretow) on vocals. Prog Magazine’s Grant Moon wrote: "The Genesis Revisited incarnation represents perhaps the last chance we'll have to hear it as it should be. It's hard to recall a performance that sounded so good at this venue”.
The guitar legend scooped Prog Magazine’s 2013 Progressive Music Award for Event Of The Year following another Genesis Revisited sell out performance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
After an unforgettable 2013, Hackett will be rewarding fans in 2014 with his Genesis Extended world tour, which hits the UK in October and sees the return of Nick Beggs on bass. The show will once again feature seminal tracks from the ‘Genesis Golden Era’, some of which were not included on the Genesis Revisited tour. Genesis Extended 2014 Benelux dates:
