NEWS 3rd album from Cynical Existence on Alfa Matrix

3rd album from Cynical Existence on Alfa Matrix

10th of February 2015, 18:00

For his 3rd album under the CYNICAL EXISTENCE moniker, Swedish bad boy Fredrik Croona surrounded himself with some talented musicians in the names of Filip Lönnqvist (RAVE THE REQVIEM) on guitars and George Klontzas (PREEMPTIVE STRIKE 0.1) in the production seat. A winning team bringing CYNICAL EXISTENCE to the next level on a more than aptly titled album "We Are The Violence"... The music is at the same time more refined but also more powerful and noir. More melodic but also more direct and destructive. We of course get served the band's characteristic "in your face" attitude while revealing a wider aggressive vocal range and insufflating trance and electro influences into their power industrial assaults.

CYNICAL EXISTENCE are back to wake you up from hell and trigger some self-torture and soul amputation. Uplifting dark afflictions to your ears and brains! This is annihilating heavy dark elektroniks!

A digital version of this album has been prepared as well including a ton of bonus tracks and remixes.

NEWS Star Industry returns with new album

Star Industry returns with new album

10th of February 2015, 17:59

Since last year's November release of their instant club and radio hit "Eyline" EP, the fans of edgy gothic rock and melodic new wave tunes have all been anxiously awaiting this precious moment… Belgium's cult gothic rock legend STAR INDUSTRY's new studio album is now a fact!

With this 10-track 5th full length album, STAR INDUSTRY will once again reunify their faithful gothic rock fanbase with characteristic anthems mixing distinct piano lines, incisive catchy synth melodies, powerful guitar parts and above all, Peter Beckers' unique way of bringing us choruses that we all sing along to and which often bring him comparisons to icons like SISTERS OF MERCY and THE MISSION… Choruses of songs like the bombastic "Selling Icons", the pop-minded "Eyline", the next goth hymn "New Religion" or yet the straight and uptempo "Dark Rain" will instantly haunt your mind…

"The Renegade" also delivers its dose of surprises with songs like the guitar-driven and suffocating "Reign On Fire" which evokes the darkest moments of FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, the new wave pearl "For The Lost", the more tortured and industrial oriented "Revelation" which reveals some NINE INCH NAILS influences, "The Renegade" and its growing tempo and interesting sampled female vocal arrangements, and last but not least the stunning last song "Shiver" with its straight catchy electronic assault and heavy EBM beats reminding us of some kind of jam session between VNV NATION and good old KILLING JOKE... and again reminding us of the impressive vocal range of the band's charismatic singer.

"The Renegade" brings us on an amazing journey throughout the melodic sounds of the eighties, the incisive guitar sound of the nineties while keeping us within the electronic mood of the 21st century modernity and a less-is-more songwriting approach.

STAR INDUSTRY successfully managed once again marrying darkness and melody, force and beauty on a homogeneous yet still diversified masterpiece that will perfectly work in club parties and on stage… Let us all join hands and celebrate: STAR INDUSTRY are back in town – stronger than ever! Heroes fade away… legends never die!

This bonus version holds 10 bonus tracks featuring a combination of dancefloor remixes of the new hits like "Shiver" and "Eyline", and also cover versions of "Kids" (MGMT) and "The Walk" (THE CURE) as well as an amazing original demo version of their intergalactic hit "Nineties", some unreleased demo songs recovered from 1996 studio sessions, and some more surprises including a live recording from their memorable tour in China…

A landmark release for Anzac Day, 'Field Punishment No. 1' comes to DVD 20 April

10th of February 2015, 17:55

Based on true events, the powerful, moving and brutal historical drama Field Punishment No. 1 tells one of the most remarkable and controversial stories of World War I: the stance taken by New Zealand’s first conscientious objectors, who endured incarceration, torture and even death for refusing to be conscripted against their will.

This hard-hitting drama is released on DVD by Odyssey on 20 April 2015 to coincide with Anzac Day (25 April), Australia and New Zealand’s great day of national remembrance, which commemorates all those that fought and died at war. The release also coincides with the centenary of one the most legendary, protracted and bloody campaigns – The Gallipoli campaign that inspired Anzac Day and cost thousands of Australian and New Zealand lives.

Directed by Peter Burger and written by the award-winning team of Donna Malane and Paula Boock, Field Punishment No. 1 tells the story of the hundreds of New Zealand ‘conchies’ who refused to fight in what they regarded as a war that ‘set brother against brother’ by focusing on the experiences of fourteen of them, notably Archibald Baxter (Fraser Brown), the country’s most famous conscientious objector and father of the celebrated poet, James K. Baxter.

Despite the unrelenting efforts of the Allied military machine, these men refused to renounce their pacifism. Arrested and secretly shipped off to Europe, they endured years of hardship in prisons and punishment camps and ultimately they were sent to the front line from which many never returned. How these men were stigmatized and tortured in an attempt to break their spirit makes for an uncompromising and dramatic war story – but the integrity, courage and compassion with which they dealt with the cruelty is even more extraordinary as ‘digger’ and pacifist alike confronted the ‘Great War’.

NEWS Spider-Man Returns to Marvel and is back in 2017

Spider-Man Returns to Marvel and is back in 2017

10th of February 2015, 17:52

In a superhero reunion of sorts, Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced a new deal with Marvel Studios that brings new Spider-Man movies into the Marvel cinematic universe.

The next Spider-Man film will hit theaters on July 28, 2017. Sony has owned the feature rights to Spider-Man since 1999, when Marvel sold the comic book heroine for $7 million.

Sony and Marvel will cast a new Spider-Man after Andrew Garfield starred in the last two superhero films, “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Tobey Maguire previously portrayed Peter Parker in three films for Sony. Marvel’s Kevin Feige will produce the rebooted Spidey with Amy Pascal, who recently stepped down as co-chairman of Sony in a new producer deal. She oversaw the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise for over 13 years at the studio. According to Monday’s announcement, Sony will continue to distribute, finance, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man pics.
