blablarism is the solo project of Kiev resident Oksana Zmorovytch. She's only 20 years old and after performing as drummer in the band Oriental, she decided to go solo under the strange moniker "blablarism". Her music is a combination of baroque analog synth sounds with a drone bass and haunting vocals. A sort of crossover between Chelsea Wolfe and The Soft Moon. Mysterious, fascinating and beautiful.
Today, she is releasing her debut C20 tape EP, which is limited to 50 copies, via the Ukranian label New Ideals. The label says: "Together, these four tracks serve as an ode to the disparate nature of Oksana's homeland, where beautiful Stalinist constructions stand side-by-side with Khrushchev's sullen cement-paneled buildings. Drawn from a darkened kaleidoscope of influences that recall elements of goth, post-punk, shoegaze and drone, fugue is a dense composition of plangent guitars, hypnotic bass lines, mournful synth tones and amorphous vocals that create a suitably bleak register. The unrelenting beat of caustic drums throughout ensures the pagan’s lament continues apace."
Read the interview of blablarism we did at the beginning of January 2013.
The tape is available for pre-order here (please select shipping to France for Belgium). The official release is planned for 11th February.

Jagjaguwar will release the second full-length studio album by England's Wolf People, Fain, on April 30th (29th in the UK).
Recorded in a beautiful and isolated house in the Yorkshire Dales, Fain is the sound of a band at the peak of their creative powers. It’s an honest and natural album that allows its stories, its melodies, its themes and structures to breathe. The album draws on more traditional English and Scottish folk melodies than anything they’ve done before, but not straying from the drop-out fuzz-rock route they’ve made their own. The influences are vast – British rock bands like Groundhogs, Dark, Mighty Baby and Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac are evident in the swirling and distorted guitars throughout Fain, along with the 60s revival folk of Fairport Convention, Nic Jones, and Trees. Additionally they have looked towards Scandinavian’s rich psychedelic tradition both new and old – you can hear the likes of Mecki Mark Men, Mikael Ramel and contemporaries Dungen. You can even hear the band’s teenage forays into Hip-Hop in the drums of ‘Thief’ and ‘Athol’.
It rained constantly throughout the recording process, and the house was so packed with gear and recording equipment that the band was forced to sleep in tents and caravans parked outside. Whilst performing, they could look out into the vast countryside and catch sight of buzzards, hares, curlews and hundreds upon hundreds of crows and gulls. The fire was on permanently, overnight and throughout the day. A serene experience that informs every track on the album. It was mixed and finished in the equally rainy London, with additional performances from Olivia Chaney on piano and backing vocals, plus Nic Kearey and Rachel Davies of Stick in the Wheel and Various (XL). Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes) recorded backing vocals in Vancouver remotely for "All Returns."
SAVAGE REPUBLIC are visiting Europe again in feb. 2013. Their “European trek” will lead them to Tournai on feb.15th along with SOLAR SKELETONS and ZHOD.
Rising from the Los Angeles underground of the 1980s, Savage Republic forged an astonishing reputation by virtue of five mesmerizing studio albums and a string of legendary live performances. Forever shifting, their brand of ritualistically tribal exhibitions blurred the boundaries of postpunk, industrial and soundtrack music, incorporating minimalist bass rumbles, exotic metal percussion, primal chants, middle eastern melodies and even shards of surf guitar. Add to this iconic letterpress graphics by founder member Bruce Licher, and Savage Republic stack up as one of the most exciting and potent experimental groups to emerge at any time or place during the last three decades.
This new tour is following the recent « Varkarios » album recorded in Greece in February 2012 during the riot days.
The line-up will be the same as it has been since 2009: the guitarist/bassist Kerry Dowling and the drummer Alan Waddington along with the two main protagonists Thom Fuhrmann and Ethan Port.
Expect a very long set which will cover all their albums…
Featuring Blaine L Reininger/Tuxedomoon for the Tournai date exclusively.
