"Fact & Fiction" The second Tranquil Eyes album delivers poignant & exciting synthwave songs. Drenched in an eternal 80s feel, well crafted & complete.
Tranquil Eyes is a Dutch minimal synth band formed in 1982. Lex Grauwen and Paul Oosterbaan had worked together for about 8 years before they formed the band. They decided to turn their back to stage performances and started experimenting with home-taping. Using an array of electronics, they recorded a great amount of songs and made a fine selection on Walks. Their first and only release.
Today, after digging into the archives, a lot of restoring, recording & re-mastering, there’s Fact & Fiction. The album is an extension to the Walks album both in genre and in spirit. Comprising a selection of lost tracks, compilation only releases, unreleased songs and even two newly recorded songs, Fact & Fiction gives a great view on the bands musical abilities & influences over the years.
For fans of League Of Nations, Oppenheimer Analysis and Ensemble Pittoresque.
The Rock Rally winners of this year, Whispering Sons have something to do with the 80's and that’s what Peter Slabbynck (formerly Red Zebra, now EX-RZ) also heard.
For years, it was his dream to cover 17 Seconds by The Cure. Every time when Robert Smith sings “and the girl starts to sing ', Slabbynck really imagined a girl started to sing then.
It was a long wait to find the right singer, but this year the waiting was rewarded when Slabbynck heard Whispering Sons.
Slabbynck contacted singer Fenne Kuppens who fancied the idea. The result is a cover with a surprising additional vote.
Incidentally Slabbynck was in 1980 with Red Zebra in the finals of Humo's Rock Rally. Two Rock Rally-finalists with a difference of 36 years of working together. Besides, in 1980, Red Zebra played in Ghent the support of... (yes) The Cure.
17 Seconds (including video) appears on October 21 on all digital platforms through Starman Records.

Al jaren droomde zanger Peter Slabbynck (vroeger Red Zebra, nu EX-RZ) ervan om ’17 Seconds’ van The Cure te coveren. Vooral die ene zin ‘and the girl starts to sing’, intrigeerde hem. The Cure. Diezelfde The Cure staan overigens dan weer op 12 November in een uitverkocht Antwerps Sportpaleis.
“17 Seconds” (inclusief video) verschijnt op 21 Oktober op alle digitale platformen !

The Global Spirit Tour will be the band’s 18th tour and will mark their first live performances in over three years. The band’s last tour, the Delta Machine Tour, played to over 2.5 million fans at sold-out shows across Europe and North America and was one of 2013’s largest and best selling tours. On the Global Spirit Tour the band will continue their charity partnership with Swiss watch maker Hublot, raising money and awareness for Charity: Water toward their mission of providing safe drinking water to everyone in the world.
Spirit will be the musical pioneers’ 14th studio album and the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Delta Machine, which reached a top five chart position in 26 countries and the number one position in 12 countries. Spirit is being produced by James Ford, founding member of the band Simian Mobile Disco, whose recent production work includes albums by Florence and the Machine and Arctic Monkeys. Spirit will be released in early 2017 via Columbia Records worldwide.
Speaking in Milan, Dave Gahan commented, “We're exceptionally proud of Spirit's sound and energy, and we're excited to get back on tour to share it with our fans around the world."
Having sold over 100 million records and played live to more than 30 million fans worldwide, Depeche Mode refuse to become complacent, with innumerable artists citing them as inspirations and critics celebrating them as “still blazing trails” and “becoming more and more significant as time passes”. Spirit and the Global Spirit Tour are poised to continue this history of musical innovation and the band’s critical and commercial success.
