Sony Pictures is expanding its Ghostbusters movies not just to the franchise level, but to the cinematic universe level.
The studio has put together Ghost Corps, a collective headed by original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and star Dan Aykroyd, that will oversee the expansion of the movie franchise not just into a cinematic universe, but also move Ghostbusters into television and merchandising.
The first order of business will be to develop a new male-oriented Ghostbusters that will be released after the much ballyhooed female-centric movie being put together by Paul Feig. The movie, which is to star Kirsten Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, shoots this summer and will be released July 22, 2016.
Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and who signed a first-look deal with Sony last week, are being tapped to produce and direct the new movie.
Drew Pearce, who penned Iron Man 3, will write the script, while Channing Tatum, another Sony favorite after the 22 Jump Street movies, also will produce with his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan. If all goes as planned, Tatum would also star in the movie.
Reitman also will produce the new movie.
Sony is one of the studios less franchise rich than others, such as Disney or Warner Bros. or even Paramount, which is cranking out Transformers and G.I. Joe movies.
How seriously is Sony taking this? Enough that Reitman is moving the entire staff of his production banner The Montecito Picture Co. onto the studio lot to focus on this endeavor. Montecito and Ghost Corps will be separate entities, however.

San Francisco rock legends Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are pleased to announce the release of ‘Black Rebel Motorcycle Club- Live In Paris’ on May 4th through Abstract Dragon.
The double album and accompanying DVD was recorded live at Theatre Trianon in Paris on February 24, 2014, during the band’s sold-out tour of Europe. In addition to the full concert, the DVD also includes the documentary film 33.3% by Yana Amur, which shows fans an intimate side of the band never seen before. A full track list can be found below.
“It was a little over a year ago while sitting in the back of a passenger van outside Tokyo, all of us covered in sweat and half-cocked grins trying to catch our breath after having just walked off stage, I remember someone uttering the idea that we might actually really want to think about filming one of these shows before it's all over,” reflects vocalist and bassist Robert Levon Been. “I guess my first reaction was that we could all use a very long hot shower much more than another live DVD at that exact moment. My second was that it might be a shame if we reached the end of that tour without capturing any of the beauty and even brutality of it. But a lot of the music we create is not only where we exist, but also where we escape to.’
‘It’s difficult though with film to avoid making a band into just another 'reality show' that’s crafted into a product on a shelf, and at the same time just painting a plain picture of a live concert would almost be like a dream without very much color or feeling,” continues Robert. “In the end we have released two separate films to show both sides of the same coin….'Live In Paris' is the dream. And '33.3% Documentary' is the morning after.”
The concert film was directed by Bartleberry Logan and won the 2014 UK Music Video Award for “Best Live Concert Film.” Live In Paris will be available as a 3 Disc set (2 CDs + 1 DVD) or 3 Vinyl collection+ 1 DVD. Fans who pre-order either format will have the opportunity to augment their purchase by adding a poster and/or T-shirt, both exclusive to the pre-order. Fans can begin placing their pre-order immediately at http://blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com where they can also preview some clips from the concert and documentary. As a bonus for those who pre-order, fans will be able to immediately download 6 digital tracks from the album.

After six albums of all original music by Outlaw Country singer BOB WAYNE, he now gives us his take on some of the world’s biggest hits. There are no boundaries on “Hits The Hits”. BOB WAYNE covers songs all the way from Rihanna to Led Zeppelin and Adele to The Offspring, putting his Country roots spin on them while not leaving out the classic BOB WAYNE edge.
“When I had the idea to record a cover album my first thoughts were Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, so my biggest influences in this kind of music. However, in the end, you cannot top Johnny Cash. Until now I had never really played any cover versions, not even live, simply because you cannot hit the mark of Johnny Cash. Whenever I play his songs it is never as good as the original.” Still, Cash’s highly successful “American Recordings” planted the seed of doing an album with cover versions in BOB WAYNE. “On those he covered Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave or Tom petty just as acoustic versions. ‘Hits The Hits’ is my attempt to do covers myself, but with a full band, so including everything from fiddle to banjos… I did it my style. The challenge was pretty exciting.”
If you are already a BOB WAYNE believer, this album will be a nice change of pace, if you are new to the BOB WAYNE train - hang on for the ride!

Sugarmen are a powerful combination of infectious melodies and angst delivered with a sonic buzz saw. Already confirmed as support to Sleaford Mods, Paul Weller, Blur and The Who, as well as making their debut at this years Dot To Dot Festival, they continue to expand their ever increasing fanbase and are fast becoming a band whose live set is known for its high octane delivery, drenched in energy and riffs.
The band was formed in Liverpool by Luke Fenlon and Chay Heney who attracted the attention of Drummer Sam McVann and Bassist, Tom Sheilds. Their love of music is reflected in their record collections. From The Clash to Orange Juice. From Hooton Tennis Club to Peace. From Parquet Courts to Alvvays. From The Velvet Underground to Wild Beasts. A good band always has a good record collection.
Mick Jones (The Clash / BAD) liked the demos so much he produced ten tracks for the band and Paul Weller donated his studio.
Sugarmen's debut single 'Dirt' will be released 13th April on Poor Old Soul Records and is produced by Mick Jones.
