20th Century Fox proudly announces the first season of the highly acclaimed series The Americans on 27th August 2014.
The release will be out on both DVD and Blu-ray.
Synopsis:
A pair of deep-cover Soviet spies masquerades as a typical DC couple whose children, neighbors, coworkers & friends are completely unaware of their activities. At home, they're the stereotypical parents of stereotypical kids; at work, they pose as travel agents; but at night, they weave a web of confidants, lovers, dupes, and historical figures from the Reagan-era Cold War. The startlingly realistic plot twists force the viewer to consider the real cost of an undeclared war, what it takes to protect one's beliefs, if it's worth it, and if it actually worked for either side
Creator: Joseph Weisberg
Stars: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Holly Taylor

Dry the River will release their second album, Alarms in the Heart, through Transgressive Records on Monday August 25th 2014.
Produced by Charlie Hugall (Florence and The Machine, Ed Sheeran), Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand) and Peter Miles (We Are The Ocean, Futures, The King Blues) and with arrangements and strings from Valgeir Sigurðsson (Sigur Rós, Björk), the resulting 10-track album is bold, expansive, confident and cohesive - an undeniable step up in both diversity and volume from their critically acclaimed debut, Shallow Bed (March 2012).
The first track from the album to be unveiled, Gethsemane, uncovers the spiritual heart of the record, delivering a Buckley-esque narrative: “Excavating down you’d find the drowning and the drowned / And then there’s us, babe.”
Shot at the Rivoli Ballroom in South London, the stunning video for Gethsemane can be viewed here:
The album also features the guest vocal of The Delgados’ Emma Pollock on Roman Candle.
The track listing of the album is as follows:

Simian Mobile Disco announce new album 'Whorl' to be released through Anti Records.
In April, Simian Mobile Disco trekked out to the Southern California desert, taking with them just two modular synths, two sequencers, and a mixer. Over a period of three days, they jammed and rehearsed in the desert, culminating in a one off sold out show at Pappy & Harriet’s, Pioneertown, allowing 900 fans to witness part of the recording process.
Those sessions, taped under the desert sky, became the basis for their brand new album “Whorl”. Now, after completing mixing and mastering, they are pleased to announce that the final studio album will be released through Anti Records (Tom Waits, Kate Bush) on September the 8th.
The album will be preceded by a single, “Tangents”, on the 1st of July.
SMD’s new live system was born out of a desire to challenge themselves – to remove computers altogether, going back to hardware sequencers, and limiting themselves to a suitcase sized rack of modular synth gear each –which both reduces the sound palette but allows much more hands on, real time manipulation – constraining themselves technically, to free themselves up musically.
Jas, on the recording process - “The recordings we did in the studio while we were writing and rehearsing the new material for Whorl were simply "live" takes - the system we’re using has limited ability to save patterns in the sequencer, but nothing like the flexibility of a computer. Live performance and studio composition are essentially now the same process, rather than the common method of writing a track using the computer, and then working out ways to perform it live. We planned not to slavishly limit ourselves just to this performance - when we came to mixdown the album, we used portions of three sessions – the show itself, an extended jam we did in the desert the day before, and a little of our London studio rehearsal. " Future live performances of Whorl are currently being planned, with a full list of tour dates to come – each show will be a live recreation of that recording process, so each time “Whorl” will be slightly different.
To reflect the organic, analogue aims of the new musical set up, long time SMD art & video collaborators Jack Featherstone & Hans Lo have built a complimentary bespoke hardware system to create the album’s visual aesthetic. The system involves feeding live generated digital content through an oscilloscope, filming the oscilloscope’s screen, then further processing the image produced. This system will be used in forthcoming videos and SMD’s live shows (it was debuted at Sonar this weekend). The cover image is a still grabbed from one of these oscilloscope jams, capturing a moment of flux in performance.

North West based DJ/producer Addz Milner has been writing and performing electronic music since 2006 as part of numerous projects and lineups.
In 2011, the psy monster that is Vindicare emerged. Citing influences as wide ranging as Ferry Corsten, Rinkadink & Joy Division, Vindicare’s productions offer a refreshing take on the psytrance genre; fusing elements of psy and dark trance with massive lead lines, innovative sample use and blistering basslines to create something new – a hybridised sound with the sole purpose of blurring boundaries and decimating dancefloors.
After a number of high-profile remixes and several live performances, the Vindicare project was retired. In 2014, it rises again with a number of single releases planned for release on AnalogueTrash Records, beginning with Pathfinder in June. The release features two versions of the track: an original single mix and a stripped down version aimed squarely at the club floor.
Soaked with Vindicare’s signature musical style, high end production and thoughtful sampling, Pathfinder speaks of long journeys and the underlying constants that offset an ever changing personal and emotional landscape. This uplifting, powerful and contemporary piece of electronic music is destined for great things this summer.
