After leaving Placebo after the conclusion of their Meds tour in September 2007 Steve Hewitt had a vision "to create a new band, a new album and a new sound" and so he created Love Amongst Ruins.
This band will release their album this September.
Will it be as good as Placebo? Now what a nast question that is, but we'll give you the answer in some months.
In the last 26 years, Neurosis have tapped into the elusive wellspring where resonance and dissonance collude, circling emotional poles where nothing is withheld, where the psyche screams for answers to Earth's ancient mysteries.
Following the recent reissues of some of Neurosis' most seminal groundbreaking earlier albums - Souls At Zero and Enemy Of The Sun - Neurot Recordings are now prepared to unveil the details on the next installment of this reissue series, with a new pressing of the band's infamous Sovereign EP.
Originally unveiled in 2000, the Sovereign EP was the first Neurosis release issued through the band's own then newly-founded Neurot Recordings, with the vinyl pressing handled by Hydra Head.
In chronological terms, Sovereign served as a millennial segue between two of the band's two revered full-lengths of that era; 1999's Times Of Grace and 2001's A Sun That Never Sets.
The EP, though shorter than a Neurosis full-length opus, is a psychotropic experience of the highest order.
And to top that off, this Neurot Recordings CD reissue also includes a previously unreleased fifth track, with the inescapably feedback-tormented hymn "Misgiven" closing out the reissue, added as a special bonus to this repressing of the recordings.
The reissue comes bound in an O-Card/jewel case setup like the other recent Neurosis reissues, with artwork completely redesigned and updated by Aaron Turner.
The album "Eleonore" will be released in Germany, Switserland, Austria and France in october.
On the 1st of september, the band plays a first preview-concert in Paris, on the Pias Nite @ la fleche d’Or.
And already next week, the band will leave Belgium to play some shows as support act for the US-band Two Gallants in Germany and Switserland.
These are the dates:
06/07/2011: Abart, Zürich (CH) (Suppport Two Gallants)
07/07/2011: Bad Bonn, Düdingen (CH) (Support Two Gallants)
12/07/2011: Café Glocksee, Hannover (D) (Support Two Gallants)
13/07/2011: Gleis 22, Munster (D) (Support Two Gallants)
And to celebrate all this, check out The Bony Kings latest single ‘The Girl From The Play’ on their Bandcamp-page
Dez Mona is working on a new album and show entitled “Saga”. The premiere (Klarafestival – Flagey Brussels / DeSingel Antwerp) and the release of the album are scheduled for September, but the rehearsals are now underway in the Singel – Antwerp and can be followed via a daily blog.
An important aspect of this project is the collaboration with artists from different disciplines such as Nick Andrews, a British painter stranded in Antwerp who will literally color the show, Jan Pauwels: a light artist, designs an installation that will form part of the set, Veronique Branquinho: who makes the costumes, Jeroen Olyslaegers writes a story / novella about Saga.
Musically Dez Mona forms a partnership with BOX (a baroque ensemble).
The group is also working on the soundtrack of a French film (Une Estonienne a Paris) with the legendary Jeanne Moreau in a lead role. For this, tracks from the previous album ‘Kommt Hilfe “are edited and one or more new songs are being recorded. The film will participate in the competition at the Berlin Film Festival 2012.
