Belgian Goth Rock project Ahráyeph has started work on its first official videoclip.
Says Raf : "With several fan videos of various songs already circulating on Youtube, I felt it was time for something official. This is quite a new territory for me, but one I've been in the process of mastering for the past six months, which will now culminate in a videoclip. I'm quite stoked about it finally coming to life, because I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now."
The clip will be made as a collaborative effort with Hybryds' Sandy Viktor Nys and Mr. Manuva, who among others is active in the Belgian trip hop/drum & bass scene, as well as in graphic and audiovisual design. Both will contribute extensively to the creative and technical process of making the videoclip.
Raf : "Sandy, Manuva and I found each other in the same place at the right time and since we hit it off so well creatively, I decided to ask them to work with me on this project, as it is just too much for just one person to handle. I'm sure this will be an interesting and fruitful collaboration."
The title of the song will be kept under wraps for the time being. As for when the clip will be released, Raf has said it will take the better part of the next two months to shoot, edit and finish, what with the different schedules of all the people involved, so expect the clip to be released sometime around the end of Summer.
In the mean time, Ahráyeph will continue the preproduction rehearsals for their next release over the Summer, aiming to record in the Autumn and Winter of 2011 - 2012, with a release sometime in the first half of 2012.
Singer Simon Le Bon still has problems with his voice and that leaves no other option for Duran Duran to reschedule the European leg of their tour, which was now due to start on July 14th in Dublin. The band are hoping to reschedule most dates for late 2011 or early 2012.
Edsel is planning to rerelease 2 albums by The Jesus & Mary Chain in September. Both albums, 'Psychocandy' and 'Darklands', will get the deluxe treatment (2CD+DVD edition).
Good news for the fans of good old gothrock as not only will Merciful Nuns be part of this year's Shadowplay Festival, the band have also announced a new CD/DVD that will be released on 12th August.
The DVD contains a full concert from Berlin while the CD is being described as a ritual soundtrack for the darkest moments.

After Claus's stage come back in 2009, his all time favorite song "Sex Dwarf" by Soft Cell has been played live all over the world as the last song at many Leæther Strip concerts.
Many of the fans have asked for this version to be released. Guess what? This version will be released now!
As a special treat for the collectors of Claus's work, it will be a special 7" colored (RED) vinyl + a 3" CD.
The 7" will contain "Sex Dwarf" on side A and on side B you get a synth-pop cover version of the amazing Siouxsie and the Banshees song "Spellbound".
The 3" CD will also contain the 2 cover songs plus a new original Leæther Strip song titled "To Suffer Is To Live" , a song with the same 80's vibe as the 2 others. All 3 songs will not appear on any other releases so this is the only way to get a hold of them.
