Chemical, an album by Death Loves Veronica, is a perverse, dark-electronic journey infused with themes of nihilism, inhibition, and deception. Heavily saturated with post-industrial and gothic influences, this album is a corruption of the expected and resonates with the disillusion of our times. Recorded with analog synths and minimal guitar work, Chemical is a daring undertaking for solo artist Veronica Campbell.
Veronica recorded the framework of this album within a two-week time period while in recovery from an intensive health-related surgery. With limited use of her arms, she dove into the more technical capabilities of her favorite synthesizers, obsessively crafting each sound and, as usual, keeping her distance from the use of MIDI. The album’s title is as a reminder of what collectively fuels the human race—and what can increase or dull our pain. This album tells a dark story. It is driven and propelled from someplace deviant within, an expression of the artist’s true self.
After a break of almost 10 years there will be a new album from one of the most legendary electronic music projects to emerge from Germany.
Actually there was only supposed to be one new ASCII.DISKO track, specially produced for the video art short film “PORTADORAS QUEER: EL DOBLE Y LA REPETICIÓN“ by the Spanish artist Ana Laura Alaez - but Daniel Gerhard Holc, the DJ and producer behind ASCII.DISKO, experienced his most intensive creative boost since the early 2000s; over 20 new ASCII.DISKO tracks were created in a very short time… Some with lyrics in German, English and Spanish. Intense, raw and hypnotic, blurring the edges between techno, noise, no wave, and ebm.
In this time, Ana Laura Alaez‘s video “PORTADORAS QUEER: EL DOBLE Y LA REPETICIÓN“ with the track “STILLSTAND” has been nominated for BEST INTERNATIONAL MUSIC VIDEO at the MuVi International Award of the 67th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. And so the new 12“ VERDOPPELN / WIEDERHOLEN E.P. featuring “STILLSTAND” and three other non-album tracks will be released on the label YOUNG & COLD RECORDS - a global player in the dark-wave and post-punk field and now focusing even more on the electronic sector with its latest addition to the family.
Advance worldwide pre-sales for the 12” of the VERDOPPELN / WIEDERHOLEN E.P. begin on May 7th, 2021 (Bandcamp Friday) on Young and Cold, with a release date of September 8th, 2021. The EP will also be digitally released on the London cult label ICON SERIES (Punx Soundcheck/Marc Almond/Replicant).
The new ASCII.DISKO album “TODOS LOS CONCIERTOS, TODAS LAS NOCHES, TODO VACIO” will hit the Pre-sales in June/July across 3 separate 12 inches and a limited Edition Vinyl Box Set. It will also be released as a limited edition CD and Tape, with the digital release on ICON SERIES RECORDS.

Today it’s exactly 42 years ago since Joy Division released their debut studio album Unknown Pleasures (15 June 1979).
Today it’s exactly 42 years ago since Joy Division released their debut studio album Unknown Pleasures (15 June 1979) on the renowned label Factory Records. The album was recorded and mixed in only three successive weekends in April of the same year and was produced by Martin Hannet who incorporated a number of unconventional recording and production techniques into the group's sound.
The cover artwork was designed by artist Peter Saville while the centre sleeve depicts "100 consecutive pulses from the pulsar CP 1919" as found by Bernard Sumner in The Cambridge Encyclopaedia of Astronomy (See more about the artwork in the video below)
It is the only Joy Division album that was released during lead singer Ian Curtis's lifetime.
Initially, sales of Unknown Pleasures were slow until the release of the non-album single, 'Transmission'. The album sold over 5000 copies within the first week of it's release, 20.000 copies were sold within the first year. However the album did not chart until it was reissued after the suicide of singer Ian Curtis. Then the album peaked at #71 in the UK Album Charts in August 1980 while it reached No.2 in the UK indie charts and spent 136 weeks in the chart in total. Factory Records did not release any singles from Unknown Pleasures,
It has since received sustained critical acclaim as an influential post-punk album and has been named as one of the best albums of all-time by publications such as NME, AllMusic, Select and Spin.
Instead of side A and B the sides were named Outside and Inside.
