With "Cryogenix" In Strict Confidence released their debut CD on the electro cult label "Zoth Ommog" (Front 242, Frontline Assembly, etc) in 1996. The album became an instant hit and many of the songs are still popular with DJs and fans alike. "Harmony & Hardness" was their trademark at the time, to which the band has remained true to this day. Four years after its release however, the label ceased to exist in 2000 and "Cryogenix" disappeared from the market until today.
Reason enough to revive the album on CD for the 25th anniversary and finally also digitally. Packed with 16 tracks (including rare and unreleased bonus material) "Cryogenix" comes back in the Digipak in 2021.
Electro-Industrial band MICROWAVED have just unleashed their new EP, Save Me.
The EP contains 16 tracks, 14 of which will be available on streaming platforms from June 12th. The Bandcamp release will contain two bonus tracks: a collaboration with LIEBCHEN on a cover of Pink Floyd's “Comfortably Numb” and an additional remix from the talented and outstanding remix artist Steven Olaf.
Save Me refers to the album's theme of loss. Gabe Wilkinson, the founder of MICROWAVED, says: "All of my songs seem to be about loss, addiction or monsters. These songs fall into the loss of love category. This record for me is also about taking these songs and expanding my musical vocabulary. It's about stretching some mental muscles and playing with ideas I may not have been very comfortable with."
For fans of: NIN, MINISTRY, SKINNY PUPPY & GODFLESH
MICROWAVED’s latest release Save Me sees the band collaborating with Kimberley of BOW EVER DOWN, Nathan of milkfixer and Mitch of DOOMSLAYER, each lending their unique vocal talents to MICROWAVED’s cold wave creations. Save Me also has many different remixes from varying artists starting with pilgrimOmega (keyboard player for MONSTER VOODOO MACHINE) to I YA TOYAH and SPANKTHENUN plus many of the friends that founder Gabe Wilkinson has made through the years.
On this day, 40 years ago Frank Tovey released the album Incontinent as second Fad Gadget album. Incontinent sounds less “industrial” as his debut album Fireside Favorites relying less on drum machines and sampled (industrial) sounds. Most songs are inspired by Frank Tovey’s impression during his first US tour in 1980.
"Blind Eyes”, with lines such as "Send a few pounds to a charity / Now we're feeling so much better" and a chorus intoning "Hear no, see no, speak no evil" is clearly about people trying to easy their consciousness and ignore global problems.
While "Swallow It" is about the feed of news and propaganda our society, our leaders and media are feeding us day after day.
"Saturday Night Special" is inspired by America's 'Second Amendment', one of the ten amendments to the Constitution comprising the Bill of Rights, states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed... "
The title tracks "Incontinent" and "Manual Dexterity", both instrumental, respectively featured Mute Records founder Daniel Miller and Robert Gotobed of the band Wire.
"King of the Flies" was released as a flexi-single on 2 October 1981. "Saturday Night Special" backed with "Swallow It Live" was issued on 5 January 1982. A rerecorded version of "King of the Flies" backed with "Plain Clothes" was released on 6 April 1982. None of these singles made it into the mainstream charts.
The album was recorded and mixed during Summer '81 at Blackwing Studios, All Hallows Church, London and features Frank Tovey
The album's artwork featured a picture of Tovey made up as the puppet Punch and was taken by Anthon Corbijn.

Industrial Band SUPER DRAGON PUNCH!! Unleashes New Full-Length Album, 'Feral'
Belgium based SUPER DRAGON PUNCH!! returns with their long-awaited debut album: Feral.
SUPER DRAGON PUNCH!! unleashes twelve tracks of highly effective techno-infused body music inspired by retro 80s video game soundtracks. The album transports the listener through a unique vigorous ride of melancholic emotions, enhanced by deeply personal lyrics which deal about self-reflection, inner demons and emotional breakability.
Feral is filled with compelling dynamic tracks packed with infectious rhythms, catchy synth melodies, heavy beats, driving bass lines, ingenious sound samples, dark atmospheres, harsh and melodic vocals that are harmoniously combined to create original soundscapes.
SUPER DRAGON PUNCH!! is the synthpunk/EBM/industrial project of frontman Jérémie Venganza, and is well known for their powerful energetic live performances. The band has performed in front of varied crowds and events in different places like Mexico, Japan AND Russia.
Feral is a diversified album continues on the path of the cold, somber and haunting tracks from SDP!!’s debut EP while continuing to expand its musical horizons. Feral contains complex, detail filled, fast tempo anthems or dark ballads alternating between futurepop or more anarchic industrial synthpunk tracks with numerous sound effects and elements that are harmoniously integrated in the music.
This album is proof once again that this project will refuse to be locked in one particular genre, only to suffocate there.
Feral has been skillfully mixed and mastered by Hocico and Dulce Liquido mastermind Racso Agroyam at Liquido Labs. Racso also added some additional punch to the creations. “Frame” has been mixed by Krischan Wesenberg at Studio-600.
