Arrow Video is thrilled to announce the release of Blood and Black Lace, the film which spearheaded the giallo genre, provided the now-famous prototype for the slasher movie, and has since gone on to become a huge influence on filmmakers as diverse as Dario Argento and Martin Scorsese. The disc features a brand-new 2K restoration of the film from the original camera negative, alongside newly translated subtitles for the Italian audio and a new audio commentary by Mario Bava’s biographer Tim Lucas.
Mario Bava’s classic piece of Italian cinema will be released on 16th April as both a deluxe Blu-ray & DVD and also as a limited edition SteelBook featuring an updated version of the original iconic artwork.
New featurettes include Psycho Analysis, a new documentary on Blood and Black Lace and the origins of the giallo genre featuring interviews with directors Dario Argento (Suspiria) and Lamberto Bava (Demons) amongst others. Alongside this, an appreciation by Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani, the creative duo behind Amer and The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears will also be included as will Yellow, the much-acclaimed neo-giallo by Ryan Haysom & Jon Britt.
Further features will include Gender and Giallo, a visual essay by Michael Mackenzie exploring the giallo’s relationship with the social upheavals of the 1960s and 70s and a panel discussion on Mario Bava featuring Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava and Steve Della Casa, recorded at the 2014 Courmayeur Film Festival.
Furthermore an episode of David Del Valle’s television series, The Sinister Image, devoted to Cameron Mitchell, the star of Blood and Black Lace will be included and presented in full, along with the alternative US opening titles, sourced from Joe Dante’s private print and scanned in 2K especially for this release.
This jam-packed disc will be rounded off with the original theatrical trailer and a collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by Howard Hughes, author of Cinema Italiano and Mario Bava: Destination Terror, an interview with Joe Dante, David Del Valle on Cameron Mitchell and more, all illustrated with archive stills and posters.

After its successful focus on France last year, Film Fest Gent is to include a British focus as part of its next edition. Following this focus, Film Fest Gent will also celebrate the rich tradition of British film music by organising the concert GREAT BRITISH FILM MUSIC at Music Centre the Bijloke, that will provide an anthology of the work of both classical and contemporary film composers, whom have made a remarkable contribution to the image and success of British cinema.
Virtually every significant name in British film music will be highlighted, from William Walton to John Barry, George Fenton and Michael Nyman. Their celebrated scores will be accompanied by excerpts from celebrated British films, including Richard III, Henry V, Shakespeare in Love, Far from the Madding Crowd, Murder on the Orient Express, Dangerous Liaisons, Battle of Britain, The Ipcress File and The Knack.
As for the film programme, the British films will be programmed in a separate section with twelve to fifteen new films that are true examples of films that show the dynamic and diversity of current British cinema, which in recent years is really flourishing. Other British films will also be programmed in the usual festival sections such as the Competition, Galas & Specials, Classics and Out of the Box. Numerous filmmakers from the UK are set to attend the festival and present their latest work. Q&A's and director's talks will be held during the festival.
The annual film music seminar will also shine a light on British Cinema. Composers Stephen Warbeck, Patrick Doyle and George Fenton (regular composer of Ken Loach) have already committed to participate. Other names of directors and composers will be confirmed in the coming months.
The 42nd Film Fest Gent will run from 13 until 24 October 2015 in Ghent, Belgium. The full programme will be announced on 24 September 2015. The Great British Film Music concert will be held on 22 October 2015 at Music Centre the Bijloke in Ghent. Music will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by Dirk Brossé. Tickets are available at Ticketmatic.

Goethes Erben release a sneak preview of their new piece "MENSCHENSTILLE", that will be performed in the autumn.
In contrast to the two performances of “MENSCHENSTILLE” in Bayreuth in October, Goethes Erben will also play older pieces at the concerts in Berlin, Antwerp, Leipzig, Cologne and Bayreuth (July). Goethes Erben will have 10 musicians on stage during the first 3 concerts and from July on, the live ensemble will be complemented with an 8-member dance ensemble, which is integrated into the dramaturgical concept of “MENSCHENSTILLE”.
“MENSCHENSTILLE” is about a man who lost his belief in life, gets into a depression and likely will commit suicide, but maybe he manages to discover a way out, to overcome this depression? It is a very dark piece with a lot of text, the music varies from delicate chamber music to a wall of sound, created by guitars and electronic sounds. The texts are not only spoken by me, but also by other actors. There will be dance, monologues, drama, music and a special stage, constructed by wood sculptor Remo Sorge. Carsta Köhler makes the costumes for these characters, that are waiting together in an old house, to ensure that life can go on (barely).
Live concerts 2015:

From 6th May on Horrible Bosses 2 will be available on DVD and Blu-ray on Warner.
Director: Sean Anders
Stars: Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day
Fed up with answering to higher-ups, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own business. But a slick investor soon pulls the rug out from under them. Outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the three would-be entrepreneurs hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor's adult son and ransom him to regain control of their company.
