It is not easy to get original albums by Stendal Blast. Their debut from 1995 is unavailable for ages, and their third opus ‘Morgenrot’ has become a sought after pearl, available at outrageous amounts of money only. This situation has not improved since the band, led by singer and songwriter Kaaja Hoyda, decided to stop the project in October 2013, after more than 20 years of creative time. Stendal Blast released 5 studio albums in its history.
Stendal Blast became real avantgarde musicians, who closed the gap between sophisticated lyrics and catchy compositions. Their last output, the album ‘Schmutzige Hände’ (2006) was a musically and lyrically very mature, brilliant album. The song "Fährmann" became another big hit in the scene and with melancholic songs like "Trümmer" or "Paradies" the musicians confirmed themselves again to be the vanguard with no fear to risk. Mr Hoyda and Mr Lottes have now selected the best songs of their career, to include them in this special ‘farewell compendium’ for their fans - especially also for those that yet are to become fans in the years to come! For each track, Hoyda has written a few commentary words inside the rich booklet, in order to give in to many fans requests for explanation about the meaning of some of his (sometimes mysterious) lyrics…
The Minimal classic associated with Terry Riley's name is his 1964 piece In C. It is undoubtedly a major piece: a statement in many ways. The work in the 'easy' key of C Major connects notated classical style music and jazz improvisation. But In C is not just to be played but to be heard as well, and deals with directing a non-hierachical group of musicians.
In C offers a wealth of textural possibilities with a score consisting of 53 melodic patterns that may be repeated as many times as desired. It can be played by any combination of instruments and by any number of instrumentalists.
In C marks some of Terry Riley's musical ideas: 1: His interest in improvisation. 2: The inspiration of repetitive musical structures he heard and loved in North African music. The same influence affected La Monte Young, Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Colin McPhee, starting in the early 1960's as an 'underground scene' in San Francisco and New York. In Europe Louis Andriessen, the late Karel Goeyvaerts, Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, Henryk Górecki and Arvo Pärt demonstrated a similar interest in minimal traits.
For Smalts it is principally the influence of Javanese gamelan music (which can be heard in many songs by Smalts on all their albums) that made them decide to record this work. It was written as a piece defined by the interactions between the members of a diverse group of musicians, and it would vary in terms of duration, structure and tempo every time it was played. In C appears simple to understand, but turns out rich, subtle, and diverse when heard in performance.

In the high-tech gold rush of modern Silicon Valley, the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success. A comedy partially inspired by Mike Judge's own experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late 1980s.

The five members of Cheena – Walker Behl, Margaret Chardiet, Keegan Dakkar, Logan Montana, and Eugene Terry--were all born and raised in New York City and have all cut their teeth in its musical underground. The band formed in 2014 out of their shared affinity for ’77 punk and a mutual respect for Mercer Arts-era NYC early glam and West Coast country punk. They were all friends playing the underground punk circuit, each with the desire to form a band outside of their own genre niches.
Appropriately, then, Cheena finds all five of its members stretching out of their usual comfort zones. Behl’s historically shrieking vocals are replaced with a more harmonious call, Chardiet trades the P.E. table for a fire engine Gretcsh Special Jet / Fender twin combo. Montana taught himself to play slide guitar, Jeffrey Lee style. Dakkar tries out a thundering post-punk bass and Terry, a multi-instrumentalist, settles on drums, forcing himself to play at least two measures slower than any of his previous projects. Spectacularly, the result is a sonically coherent group who sound as though they’ve been playing together for years.
Citing wildly diverse influences-- Gary Glitter, Slade, uppers, cartoonish depression, Iggy Pop, 70’s iron on font, Sex Pistols, booze and Hawkwind-- their unifying theme is defiantly one of late ’70s proto-punk. Eschewing the genre boundaries in which their other projects are so deeply entrenched, the band manages to channel a pre-internet spirit painfully non-existent in this age of Tumblr fashion and Discogs record collectors.
Swedish EBM masters AUTODAFEH are back with a brand new, their fifth album since 2008! The band describes the album as “Analogue bases, beckoning into a digital world”. This time they returned back to the old synthesizers and drum machines from the 80s and 90s for inspiration and they are using this inspiration within their creative setup to form and blend them into their current digital domain. The band have always valued the process of recording electronic music, setting back from the time when synchronizing machines and Midi Time Code ruled the recording industry. They are happy to announce this 13 track album with great new songs, still with a rough hard beat and strong pumping basslines. AUTODAFEH is still electronic music for body and mind.
