The search is finally over. Following last week's reveal of a directorial shortlist including Justin Lin, Rupert Wyatt, Daniel Espinosa, Duncan Jones and Morten Tyldum, Paramount has chosen its man behind the camera. Fast & Furious veteran Lin has got the gig.
The vacancy has been filled quickly, since it was only a couple of weeks ago that the previous instalments' writer Roberto Orci stepped back from making the third modern Trek his directorial debut. He was, in the end, reportedly the only person offered the job. Handily, he has a gap in his schedule, created by the abandonment of the Bourne Legacy sequel when Universal decided to return the franchise to Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon.
There were some left-field names on Paramount's Trek list, but Lin's seem like a safe pair of hands, especially at short notice. He's proved with four Fast & Furiouses (Furioi?) that he can juggle large casts and FX-heavy action, to the tune of more than a billion dollars at the box office. The question of what he'll do beyond the Final Frontier is a tantalising one.
Orci remains aboard as a producer, overseeing the script he’s co-written with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Lin is currently at work on the first two episodes of True Detective's second season. He'll board the Enterprise right afterwards, with the still untitled Star Trek 3 expected in cinemas sometime in 2016.
hris and Cosey have just announced they will release old material in new versions – due February 17th 2015, via the band’s own CTI label. Tentatively, not unlike Daniel Ash’s recent Stripped record. It will be cheekishly be called “Carter Tutti Plays Chris and Cosey” and will be featuring well-loved tracks and classics from the 80s and 90s. Eight tracks will be re-recorded on the forthcoming release, which will be available on vinyl, CD and via download.
To promote their latest effort, Chris and Cosey will play a live show which is announced to be their last for quite a while—since they want to focus on their studio work in order to finish the upcoming Carter Tutti Void album. The gig will be in London on February 15th in London’s legendary Heaven venue. The whole album will be performed on that night, the aftershow party will be hosted by DJ’s employed via The Quietus.
Manson returns with his newest album THE PALE EMPEROR, featuring the tracks “Third Day of a Seven Day Binge”, “Deep Six”, and “Cupid Carries A Gun”. “Cupid Carries A Gun” is the theme for the FOX show SALEM, and the video for "Deep Six" has been exploding around social media. n preparation for a new full-length album, darkwave band Bella Lune of Phoenix, Arizona, has a track featured on "DeathMass Six", the latest installation in an annual holiday charity compilation created by LA musician Jeremiah Saint.
Joining the ranks of other alternative underground acts like Polaroid Kiss, No:carrier, and Saint’s own project DECAYEDen, Bella Lune is proud to donate the song “The Dolly Pop Song (SAINT[ed] Fornication Mix)” a low, bass-heavy dance track that features the personal touch of Saint. All of the compilation’s proceeds are forwarded to The NestEggg Group, Inc. Food Bank at The LGBT Community Center of the Desert in California, which feeds approximately 300 families every week. Bella Lune’s contribution to the compilation is a springboard for their upcoming fourth official studio album, "Tranzendental". The album is set for a release date in January of 2015, and features a sound that leading member Fuchsia Angel says is a departure from their previous work. It is being produced by Mike Jenney of Alter Der Ruine fame.

Back in 1992 doomy goth metal quintet Moonspell was formed by vocalist Fernando Ribeiro, guitarist Ricardo Amorim, keyboardist Pedro Paixão, bassist Sérgio Crestana and drummer Mike Gaspar. The band released their debut album "Wolfheart" in 1995. Their second and breakthrough album "Irreligious" was launched in 1996. The band recorded another four albums before the release of their chart topper "Memorial". Anno 2014 and two albums later, another release is in the making, next year the band will release their new album "Extinct".
In support of the album Moonspell announced the Road to Extinction Tour 2015 with special guest Septic Flesh. Both bands will perform at Biebob Concerts on March 14.
