Burning World Records is proud to present the second installment in the Lustmord vinyl re-issue series... The Monstrous Soul, originally recorded and released in 1990.
The Monstrous Soul was conceived in Sheffield in 1990 by B. Lustmord and Clock DVA founder Adi Newton. First released by London label World Serpent, it followed the seminal and highly influential dark ambient album Heresy.
Although the release dates were barely a year apart, The Monstrous Soul marked a turning point for Lustmord, one that mapped the future more than it mirrored the past. Much more digital magic and electronic processing was employed this time.
The Monstrous Soul dedicated itself to creating a environment of gloom in which the listener was totally enveloped by an hour long soundscape best described as a journey through a frozen hell.
At the time The Monstrous Soul was recorded, the legendary B. Lustmord resided in a squat in London, near the Oval cricket ground, just around the corner from David Tibet, founder of Current 93. It takes little imagination to connect the bleak visual landscape of south London's worst slum to Lustmord's grim electronics.
This wasn't simply a fantasy video game soundtrack, it truly reflected the environment from which is came. Housed in a gatefold sleeve.
Following a break of several years, Xandria returns with "Neverworld's End". Since their shot-to-fame debut "Kill the Sun" and its ever-popular hit "Ravenheart", the band has attracted an ever-increasing fanbase.
Further outstanding releases such as "India", as well as successful tours, secured Xandria's top position within the music scene.
The new album also continues the impressive trajectory. Both the opening number, "A Prophecy of Worlds to Fall", and "Valentine" confirm that the band has stayed true to its original sound, while tipping the scales in favor of more metal.
Heavy guitars and a driving double bass meet symphonic elements and captivating melodies. With one highlight after another, fans will have no other choice but to submit to Xandria's allure.
Manuela Kraller's refined and appealing vocal performance will convince even the most hard-bitten of skeptics.
She understands how to express an entire range of emotions and is an incredible asset to the band. The new album was recorded in the noted Principal Studios and its impressive production delivers both heaviness and clarity.
"Neverworld's Return" delivers the perfect union between metal and magnificence: a symphonic metal album full of sensual and breathtaking moments.
