Mauri is a DJ, producer, creator of performance art and audiovisual projects, promoter, journalist and remixer related to electronic music, some more, some less risky, in their different mutations, since 1986.
In 2017 he publishes his seventh album, Cyborgs (its debut on Nøvak), an ambitious sonorous work, in background and form, on what it means to be a cybernetic organism. The 'translation' of the term cyborg: "a creature composed of organic elements and cybernetic devices, generally with the intention of improving the capabilities of the organic part through the use of the technology".
“Cyborgs is an album in honour of all those people who have opened a path to the future, those people who have implanted something in their body that makes them live better, something that is already normal today and that opens a door to the future of humanity, where it will be discussed at a political level among transhumanists and the bioconservatives, that is, those who fight for humans to have a longer and better life, and those who opposeit.
Each track on the album has the title of a cyborg and the music tries to reflect what they have implanted in their body.
I wanted to make a different album than I had done so far. This album, at a musical level, is more in the wave of Sweep Generators than I did in 2015 in Kvitnu, a more experimental and noisy wave.
I try to use programs differently than most people use them. I do not use midi nor drum machines, sequencers and audio editors only. First of all, I create my own library of sounds with sounds made and recorded by me and then I use them with programs. The way to create each theme is different. For example, Eyeborg did it in 2014, and then I worked sequencing my own library of sounds, whereas Harbisson is a very short part of Eyeborg slowed to 65%, adding a sound that emulates a bass and some other sound. Cheney originally was an ode to Mika Vainio but in the end I retook it by the theme cyborg, adding sounds of bells and percussive sounds (the Vainio essence is evident). Cyborg Coding is a single sound passed through raspberry pi, programmatically encoded and sequenced. In Clapp mainly the sounds are made through a modular... and so I could explain each of the topics and how I did them”.

Earlier this week, musician Holger Czukay passed away at the age of 79. His body was found by a neighbour in his apartment, a converted former cinema and music studio complex in near Cologne. Earlier this year, in July, Czukay's wife Ursula died at the age of 55.
Czukay, together with Irmin Schmidt, founded the cult band Can in 1968. Both studied at the Cologne music academy Karlheinz Stockhausen. They combined elements of free jazz, classical music and rock rhythms with complicated harmonies and all kinds of electronic effects making them pioneers of the New Wave and electro music genre.
In 2001, Can Guitarist Michael Karoli died, and earlier this year also drummer Jaki Liebezeit passed away.
In 1977, Czukay left Can to pursue his solo career and worked with music icons such as Brian Eno, Jah Wobble, Conny Planck, David Sylvian and Eurythmics.

The legendary industrial music label Wax Trax! Records schedules southern California pop-up shop and artist Q&A fall of 2017 in conjunction with the upcoming Wax Trax! documentary.
(Chicago) August 18, 2017. Today, Wax Trax! Records announces a special artist Q&A discussion exploring the independent record store and label documented in the upcoming film, INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records. The one day event will be held at Hollywood’s Montalbán Theater on Thursday, November 9, 2017 and will examine the Chicago record store and label that gained notoriety throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Wax Trax! Records’ roster originally included influential bands such as Laibach, Front Line Assembly, COIL and KMFDM, helping create the music genre now commonly referred to as “Industrial”.
The Hollywood event will feature key artists from past Wax Trax! bands Front 242, Ministry, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and The Revolting Cocks discussing the long anticipated Wax Trax! documentary as well as their early days on the label. A special pop-up shop will also open in the theater offering original vinyl pressings, collectables and memorabilia from the Wax Trax! archives. Tickets to the event will include a limited Wax Trax! documentary poster, not commercially available.
As a special bonus, a test screening of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records will be played immediately before the artist discussion. One FREE ticket to the private test screening will be available with admission to the Wax Trax! panel and Q&A. Limited VIP tickets are also available for special artist access and event premiums.

Unique double-bill clubshow with Font Line Assembly & Die Krupps! This Friday!
It rarely or almost never happens that two of these kind of legendary bands take on the same stage, the same night, for a full-fledged club show, but sometimes it does happen! Both bands are, separately, on an European tour, but this Friday, August 25th, the trails of both EBM and Electro-Industrial Cross-Over pioneers cross. This is not the least because of the stubborn lobby work of Antwerp organization BodyBeats Productions, who managed to convinced both bands to stop by in Belgium. For this special occasion, the slightly more central located and beautiful concert hall De Casino in St Niklaas was chosen.
Die Krupps (D) was founded in 1980 and is considered one of the pioneers of electronic and industrial music genre, inspiring bands like by Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and many others. With their first and very industrial sounding album ‘Stahlwerksinfonie’, the clubhit and cult single 'Wahre Arbeit, Wahrer Lohn' , the subsequent albums 'Full Kraft Voraus' and 'Enter The Arena', Die Krupps laid the foundation for what was later would become EBM or Electronic Body Music. In 2015, Die Krupps released their nineth studio album 'V - Metal Machine Music' and this year we can expect the release of 'V 1/2'!
Front Line Assembly is another highly influential Electro-Industrial pioneer band, but was founded in Canada by Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber after Leeb left Skinny Puppy. Influenced by early electronic and post-industrial acts such as Cabaret Voltaire, Portion Control, Test Department and Severed Heads, Front Line Assembly still managed to create its own sound adding more elements of EBM (Electronic Body Music).
Like Die Krupps, Front Line Assembly has never disappeared from (underground) music scene, still striking hard regularly with strong pounding albums and concerts!
Support is this evening will be Der Rest, a post-punk / avant-garde band from Germany.

Het gebeurd zelden of nooit dat twee van deze legendarische bands op dezelfde avond op zelfde podium aantreden voor een volwaardige clubshow maar soms zit het dus mee! Beide bands zijn, elk op zich, aan een Europese tournee bezig, maar op deze vrijdag 25 augustus kruisen dus de paden van deze EBM en Electro-Industriële Cross-Over pioniers. Dit hebben we niet in het minst te danken het hardnekkig lobby werk van de Antwerpse organisatie BodyBeats Productions die beide bands wist te overtuigen ook in België een stop in te lassen. Voor de locatie werd er deze maal gekozen voor de meer centraal gelegen en prachtige concertzaal De Casino te St-Niklaas.
