Blue Stahli Premieres New Single, 'Not Over Til We Say So' (ft. Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies) At Loudwire
Detroit-based electronic rock wizard Blue Stahli has returned with the release of his thrashing new single, "Not Over Til We Say So." The song, which features Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies on bass and backing vocals, is a triumphant melting pot of genres —mixing undeniable hooks atop explosive guitar work and revolutionary electronics.
This latest single from Stahli comes directly off of his upcoming sophomore LP, The Devil. The track hoists the sophistication of AWOLNATION, while culminating the energy of The Prodigy and the power of Periphery. "Not Over Til We Say So" is a song that captures the best of both the electronic and heavy rock 'n' roll world.
"'Not Over Til We Say So' is pretty much what Blue Stahli is all about — taking a bunch of disparate genres and smashing 'em all together into a cohesive track," said Blue Stahli. "In the overall electronic rock umbrella of this song, it jumps from thrash metal to glitch hop to straight up pop with catchy vocal hooks galore."
In an exclusive interview via FiXT Online, Emma Anzai opened up about working with Stahli on the track.
"Bret wanted some funky bass on the song so he sent it over to me and I listened to it non-stop and just played along to it. I loved how up tempo it was, that was the first thing I noticed and immediately got excited. Bret then asked if I could do some backing vocals as well and so I got into listening to the vocals more and just thinking of harmonies and anything else that I could add."

On long player number 3, young Berlin- based duo Formalin embarks on a thrilling journey to far away galaxies. The concept album effectively melds retro-Sci-Fi-Electronica with a distinctive harder and more modern edge. From the beginning of time, humankind has been striving to surpass its own physical and mental limits … but only now, with technology steadily evolving at great speed, this dream seems to actually be within reach.
On their new concept album „Supercluster“, Formalin escape the dark wasteland of the post-apocalypse to create a catchy and thrilling electronic vision of the future. Therein, androids will surely dream of electronic sheep, while the fascination of space travel, technological evolution, information overload and everyday life in virtual reality manifest in beat-driven cinematic sounds. The multilayered sound-constructions on the new record let Daft Punk go hand in hand with Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy with Captain Future and Vangelis with Marilyn Manson: “Supercluster” fuses real Eighties-style Science-Fiction-feeling with the harsh but melodic Industrial-approach that the Berlin-based lads have been perfecting on their previous releases. The result is an extremely dance-floor-compatible retrofuturistic Electro-trip. The first edition of the new album comes as a deluxe double disc with the bonus EP “Supervoid”, which contains more exclusive new songs. Tomorrow is yesterday … with Formalin. Full warp speed ahead!
Praised by both critics and the public alike, Qntal has masterfully blended medieval melodies, languages, and instruments with elements of modern electronic music. Over the span of two decades and six previous albums, the band has become one of the most popular in the medieval music scene. The seventh studio album – simply entitled “Qntal VII“ – is ushering in a new era for Qntal. Sensitivity and expertise guide the band on its approach to century-old lyrics and melodies.
Transformed into modern arrangements, lyrics and melodies alike are reanimated with the skill of true virtuosos. Elegant artistry mingles with danceable, catchy sounds, with Qntal always committed to the historical importance of the original piece. Alongside the band’s familiar reinterpretations of medieval sources, such as the song manuscript Carmina Burana, the theologian Meister Eckhart, the minnesinger Heinrich von Morungen and the ars nova composer Guillaume de Machaut, Qntal now also advances as far as the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. One example, the enchanting poem “By The Light Of The Moon“ by the British poet Lord Byron, is just as well transformed into a dignified piece of musical art as the “Tyger” by the nature mystic William Blake. Romanticism thus is not only an integral part of the album sound wise, but also flushes its lyrics with a melancholic dreaminess. With the title “Schnee” [“Snow”], the album “VII” dares even to enter the present: fantasy author Markus Heitz, known for his Dwarves and Alfa novels, conceived this ode to the “eternal night”.
Regardless of which century the lines originate from, either 12th or 21st, Qntal always succeeds in allowing its essence to resound in its songs – multifaceted, formidable and moving. It is no wonder that these unique avant-gardists have appeared at classical events, such as the cloister concerts at the Walkenried Abbey, the “Landshuter Hofmusiktagen” [court music festival] or the European Church Music Festival as well as at medieval festivals or independent events such as the Amphi-Festival or the renowned Wave-Gotik-Treffen [Wave-Gothic-Meeting] at Leipzig. The opuses of Qntal are universal and timeless, permitting a glance beyond the edge of the world.
